Digital monopolies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon are gatekeepers to the digital world. Amazon is capturing almost all online shopping dollars. We have the illusion of choice, but for most critical decisions, we have only one or two companies when it comes to high speed internet, health insurance, medical care, mortgage title insurance, or even consumer goods like toothpaste.

A thinly veiled promotion of communism

Time is proving most of this book’s concepts wrong. Capitalism continues to breakup monopoly-like businesses. Profits continue to incentivize competition.
Within 5 miles of my house, I have 6 grocery store options. They all compete on price and services. All monopolies mentioned in this book have intense competition which drives prices lower and lower. The only threat we face is that of more government involvement which will only reduce competition and reduce innovation.
