Detective Nightshade is back for another mystery and this time the fate of the paranormal world is tied to her case.

There's been a string of suspicious cases with evidence looking like the perpetrator(s) are from the paranormal community. So Samantha definitely has her work cut out for her. This book has the signature quick wit and quirky (or inappropriate, depending on if you're an ancient vampire or not) comments Detective Nightshade is known for. It's a fun mystery with some interesting undercover operations and some secrets to keep from partners.

The narrator is the same as the previous story, and she still does a wonderful job voicing all the characters! I listened at 1.2x speed.
This is the second book and can be enjoyed on its own without the first, but you should definitely check out book one!

This is a fun holiday read (that doesn't need to be read during the holiday)! Charlotte has had a bad run of boyfriends, either cheating on her or just being terrible, and she really wants a date (who isn't a terrible person) for her sister's Boxing Day party. So when her grandmother sends an old storybook, she reminisces about her childhood reading them, and decides that summoning a date to the party would be a good idea. And a hungover fae assassin arrives. The scenes and the banter between the two was fun, plus the date (it was adorable!).
This is a fairly quick/read listen. The narrator is new to me, and she does a lovely job with all the characters and differentiating voices from the narrating voice to Lottie's/Bain's voices. I listened at 1.2x speed.

I'd love to meet these characters again! They were such fun to read!
There's a bit of swearing in this story, and a little bit of steam-adjacent, but it's mostly closed door otherwise. It's mostly lighthearted, but there are some heavier moments.

A quick read/listen with paranormal fated mates elements!

It was a novella length story with fated mates trope and a smidge of steam. It's a nice little story with some conflict and enemies to lovers vibes. I did have some trouble bonding with the characters, they weren't as dimensional as I'd hoped for a shorter story. The main male character is mentioned to be a billionaire and then nothing is really done with that comment after it was made. I did have some trouble bonding with the main female character. I think there's a difference between being strong and being rude, and she mostly fell on one side of the scale.
Overall, the story was fun! I did like getting to know the world the author created and I'd definitely read/listen to more stories set in this world! I liked the development of the plot and the fact that the chapters had chapter names! I love when books have chapter names!

The narrator was new to me. I listened at 1.15x speed. I had some trouble connecting to her, but overall she was clear in her narration style. I just didn't feel inspired by it.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Quirky, Paranormal Mystery!

This is a fun, quirky mystery with a helping of humor, and a pinch (or two) of paranormal!
Samantha Nightshade is a newly turned vampire thrust into the fun world of vampire politics, while also trying to solve a crime that looks suspiciously like a vampire did it. She manages to keep her sarcastic personality and witty remarks even with her new aversion to light.
The story is pretty fast paced, and I'd have liked if it went into a little more detail because somethings are glossed over more. Though, this is a short story/novella, so it makes sense that things would be quick. But I do look forward to learning more about the paranormal world the author created in future books.

This is a quick story (even faster if you listen at 1.15x speed) with a good narrator. The narrator is new-to-me, and I hope she gets to narrate the rest of the series!

I love a good mystery! I also enjoy interpretations of Christie’s works and the little spin on them people give when they create them.
I thought all the narrators did a wonderful job and the music and other sounds fit perfectly with the story.

A Hint of a Great Series!!

This story is setup with a little story at the beginning, that's more than a prologue, but it does offer a great start to the first book. Lena is a former ghost with some memory problems. She's trying to figure out what happened to her with the help of Nord, her self-appointed guardian. Lena and Nord have some amazing banter and scenes together!
This story is a slow burn in terms of romance with lots of chemistry building up! There's also swearing, innuendo, violence, death, and some gory bits.
The narrators are wonderful! I always love listening to them! It's narrated in duet with that male voices being voiced by the male narrator and vice versa with the female narrator and female characters. They both do a great job getting into character and differentiating voices. I listened at 1.15x speed.

Regency Romance with Enemies to Lovers Vibes!!

Not gonna lie, based on this cover, I'd expected this story to have less plot than it did, but I was pleasantly surprised at the plot it had!
Lady Elizabeth is doing her best to find her missing brother, who frequented gambling dens and brothels, when she comes across the Duke of Cambridge. She and the Duke haven't really been on each other's good sides ever since Elizabeth's coming out party and the Duke didn't want to dance with her (talk about a snub!). However, Elizabeth is a little desperate and needs help finding her brother, and the Duke, whose sister is friends with Elizabeth's sister, notices Elizabeth is hanging around places she shouldn't and her reputation could take a hit, so he kindly (or forcefully) decides to help her out. I liked Elizabeth and the Duke's banter! They each gave as good as they got! It was fun going on the adventure through the underbelly of London with those two.
This isn't a traditional enemies to lovers, but I liked it anyway! It's more of a dislike/indifference to lovers with a dash of miscommunication to make it fun. It's a fun, entertaining story with a little bit of steam!

I liked the narrator! She's a new to me narrator and I'd definitely listen to her again! She did a good job differentiating between all the character voices, from the male to the female characters. I listened at 1.15x speed.

Fun, Quirky, Steamy Why-Choose Rom-Com!!

A fun, steamy why-choose romantic comedy about a shipwrecked heiress on an island with some interesting creatures!

Harper is a stereotypical spoiled, shallow heiress, who's pretty mean to the ship workers. She's a little unlikeable at the beginning. Power through this. This is part of her journey. Her day goes from bad to worse when she finally goes a vacation on her new yacht, and some bad weather causes it to capsize, plus her crew has already left her behind on the only lifeboat. What happens next is a whirlwind of adventure and learning to survive with her newfound companions.
The story is very lightly paranormal, not super detailed and lore-heavy, but nicely light and more go-with-the-flow-type. There's steamy times, single and multi-partner scenes, and nothing really triggering (there's talk of experiments, but nothing detailed).

This is a complete standalone, though if the author wanted to do more stories about Harper and Co, I'd be happy!

I liked the narrator! She differentiated between all the voices quite well and didn't reuse the same "male" voice for each of the different male characters. I listened at 1.15x speed.

There’s lots of information here about various women from history who had “behaved badly”. Each woman gets a chapter about her life. It’s a high overview of their lives and I’d have liked to have more information about each.

This was a wonderful series and I regret how long it to me to pick it up (metaphorically because you don't "pick up" an audiobook anymore) and finish the stories. I liked the narrators! I thought they both did a great job with the characters! I listened at 1.1x speed. The female narrator did have some trouble with the Irish accent, and the male narrator had a good accent, so that was a little bit of a bump in the road sometimes when you heard a good accent, and next an accent that is different from the first.

I enjoyed each of the characters in the stories! I found the overarching mystery to be interesting and I loved how it all tied together in the end.
This is a steamy series, with scenes in each book with each couple. There's violence, descriptive, but not too graphic.
