Historia
Narcissistic abuse creates a tidal wave of confusion, hypervigilance, and overthinking. You have trouble thinking clearly, remembering things, or taking in new information. And because these changes are happening to you, you begin to wonder: What's wrong with me? Why can't I make this relationship work? Am I fundamentally broken? And that's exactly how narcissistic abuse works—it happens so subtly that you believe the insecurities you're experiencing are "you" instead of "what's happening" to you. This audiobook covers unique information related to narcissistic abuse.

Revisado: 11-25-24
This book was so helpful and healing. I’m so grateful for such impactful dissection of the life I’ve known for such a long time. It enabled me to understand what happened, how I played into it, and to accept and honor myself as the worthy human I am. Thank you, Chelsea!

Haunting
Revisado: 03-08-24
Having listened to this book after Matthew Perry’s death was painful, yet and enlightening. I had no idea that he led such a tortured life, and I so wish that such a wonderfully sensitive and kind soul could have been saved. Despite feeling pain while listening, I have to say that it did give me closure that I desperately needed after losing one of my all-time favorite comedians. RIP, Matthew.

Ending was a disappointment

I really enjoyed this book up until the last hour or so. With all of the buildup throughout the story, I expected more of a surprise/twist at the end and I could have easily predicted what I got. Sorry!

Historia
Claire is only seven years old when her college-age sister, Alison, disappears on the last night of their family vacation at a resort on the Caribbean island of Saint X. Several days later, Alison’s body is found in a remote spot on a nearby cay, and two local men - employees at the resort - are arrested. But the evidence is slim, the timeline against it, and the men are soon released. The story turns into national tabloid news, a lurid mystery that will go unsolved. For Claire and her parents, there is only the return home to broken lives.

Slow and unexciting story
Revisado: 06-19-20
I wanted to love this book, but didn’t. I found it to be slow and it just didn’t keep my attention. I used to use long periods of time in the car to listen to audiobooks and was in the middle of this one when COVID-19 hit, so my driving decreased to almost nothing. However, I could have listened at home and just didn’t feel motivated. Each time I tried to listen at home, I would stop after short periods of time. It would have been wonderful to have a book I loved at times during quarantine, but this wasn’t it. I did push my way through it, hoping something would change, but I was disappointed. Maybe you won’t share my opinion, though.

Historia
Superheroes have always been Leia Birch Briggs' weakness. One tequila-soaked night at a comics convention, the usually level-headed graphic novelist is swept off her barstool by a handsome and anonymous Batman. It turns out the caped crusader has left her with more than just a nice, fuzzy memory. She's having a baby boy - an unexpected but not unhappy development in the 38-year-old's life.

Didn’t really like this book
Revisado: 10-17-19
Unfortunately, I found this book to be very slow and not very interesting. In my opinion, it fell short of its potential. That said, I really enjoyed the narrator, who told the story as well as it could be told and who spoke in seemingly perfected accents.

I wanted to love this book, but it fell short for me. I thought it was slow and I kept waiting for a shocker that never came. I was disappointed in the ending - felt like a lot of build up to a peak was never reached.

Historia
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

Such a fun read!
Revisado: 08-01-19
Such wonderful humor and candor in this book! I thoroughly enjoyed the detailed portrayal of real life for spirited women during the 40’s to present, with no sugarcoating! If you‘re not one to flinch when prim and proper are the last words in the English language to describe someone who this would appeal to, listen and feel great!

A book about real
Revisado: 06-04-19
What I appreciate about this book is honest portrayal of the human experience. Lori Gottlieb beautifully illustrates that no one (including therapists) escapes life’s emotional upheavals. Having the courage to deal with those upheavals, or not, is what makes or breaks us. The choice is ours.

A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas.
