Historia
In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on our Capitol.

"Listen to the Song Beneath the Words."
Revisado: 12-11-23
My Grandmother (the lady who raised me) never looked down at me, never said harsh words, never punished me for anyone of mistakes growing up (and believe when I say that I made plenty). Her attitude, demeanor, and response was always the same. She always started by saying: "listen to the song beneath the words" and then gave warning/advice/opinions. Growing up I never understood what the hell that quote meant. Then, it hit me one day: it was the song of frankness, honesty, truthfulness, and experience- which matters more than the spoken word. Liz is a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 patriot- but to believe it you must listen to the song beneath her words.

Historia
There is a new revolution happening in sports as more and more athletes are basing their success on this game-changing combination: health, nutrition, training, recovery, and mindset. Unfortunately, the evidence-based techniques that the expert PhDs, academic institutions, and professional performance staffs follow can be in stark contrast to what many athletes actually practice. When combined with the noise of social media, old-school traditions, and bro-science, it can be difficult to separate fact from fiction.

This book is very well narrated considering the high caliber content included in every chapter. I use Audible.com to preview books on my Amazon.com wish list. This is definitely one of those books that I will proceed to purchase the hardcover version. There’s so much to learn from that it simply requires more than just listening to it. It is definitely a keeper for your personal ‘sports science’ library.

If you could sum up The Contrarian's Guide to Leadership in three words, what would they be?
Refer to my review of True North.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Contrarian's Guide to Leadership?
I have not finished listening to the audio book. Presently, I'm listening to three others. Please refer to my comments on True North. Ditto for The Contrarian's Guide to Leadership.
What about John H. Mayer’s performance did you like?
Keeps you engage and focused on the the message.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

A worthwhile investment in money and time.
Revisado: 01-02-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The content is clear and to the point. The performer keeps you engage. The story is full of learning lessons that most of us have yet to experience, but eventually will.
And when we do we will be better equipped to face a challenging situation (requiring good leadership) with a greater chance of succes than if we had never listened the audio version. Will probably purchase the hardcover so that I may butcher it with my highlighters!
What other book might you compare True North to and why?
At this time I'm listening in tandem the following: (1) The Contrarian's Guide To Leadership; (2) Leadership Isn't For Corwards; (3) Creating Magic; and, (4) Great Leaders Grow- which I plan to return because Ken Blanchard really missed the boat on this one. However, you will find the first three great companions to True North, as well as, to each other. On a side note, I urge all who find 'leadership' a must read to pick up a copy of: Leading At The Edge (Catherine McCarthy) and Endurance (Alfred Lansing).
Sorry about not using fancy words and/or eye catching phrases- I'm just down to earth, a plain talker, and, quite simple.
What does Mark Adams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He keeps you engage and focus on the message.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
South Is Not An Option!
Any additional comments?
I don't consider myself a smart person- but, I'm intelligent enough to know that I can learn from others and to know the difference between a good read as opposed to a poorly written book. I find this audio book to be a 4.5 to a 4.75!

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Carolyn McCormick should read all my Audible Books
Revisado: 10-08-12
Would you listen to The Hunger Games again? Why?
Yes. It's good fiction, but Ms.McCormick made it great fiction. Although I was either jogging, cycling, or, working out at the gym while listening to the book,Ms.McCormick's performance made me feel like I was sitting in the theatre watching the movie. And, I love going to the movies!!!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hunger Games?
When Catnis shot the arrow through the apple.
What about Carolyn McCormick’s performance did you like?
Refer to my comments for Question #1.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed my head off when I visualized Catnis shooting her arrow through the apple. It reminds me of my two daughters: don't stress it out. get their attention. head strong, and head first, into the stonewall. worry about the broken pieces, later.
Any additional comments?
I've already suggested to Audible.com that their loyal customers should have the option to choose the performer they would like to hear tell the story. I guess that is wishful thinking. But, I will keep on asking for a refund every time I purchase an audible book read by someone who kills the story.
