I grew up playing video games in arcades, pizza shops with video games. I remember cheesy video games, consoles before X-Box and PlayStation. I still occasionally play Ms. Pacman on my iPad/iPhone. Hacking public telephones? Yes!

If you grew up in the late 70's or the 80's and remember some of the many films referenced throughout this book, you will enjoy this audiobook. Wil Wheaton's provides an excellent performance covering many different characters.

Let me share what I didn't like.

Some of the quotes before each chapter were corny or used so much they tend to loose meaning. Between FaceBook and Twitter, there's so many quotes being thrown around it becomes corny.

Note, the last two chapters are basically filled with recipes. I'm not particularly crazy about listening to a narrator list recipes when it would be easier to provide links to YouTube videos demonstrating how to prepare the dishes.

Other than that, this is cool running book!

Great Audio Book for Language Learners

Great PERFORMANCE!

I'm using Spanish audio books as a learning tool. Since I know this controversial best seller is considered by many to be crappy, poorly written and more important repetitive, I decided that it would be good for my learning purpose.

Note: I really can't comment on the story or overall audiobook because, I'm just listening and picking some words and phrases. I may write a full review in the future.

The Story is Simply OK, the performance is great

I've read many Star Wars books that takes place before, during and after the legendary first 3 films. Yeah, sure, the entire 6 film collection that will eventually include more and more SW films. I'm a fan, just like you.

Story had the potential to be so much more but it simply falls flat. Zahn spent too much time on minutiae. There are some characters but too much details on safes, weapons, etc. The background story between Solo and Lando was interesting and it could have been expanded. Chewy was pretty much playing the background well I guess that's his position. The twist in the end simply made me chuckle. "Ok, yeah," I thought with a chuckle.

The performance was great! The voices, the ambiant background noise, the crowds, the different accents. Lucas Books produce top-notch material.

Simple SHORT tale, great for language learners

Do you want to listen to someone speaking in deliberately slow pace so you can understand every word?

Do you want to practice listening to the correct pronunciation of words in Spanish or English?

If the answer is yes to both questions, then this is the audiobook for you!

THE BEST BOOK I READ IN 2012 . . . so far

Ray Porter provides an excellent performance that highlights Winslow's style.
If you enjoyed Savages (the film or the book) this audiobook will not dissappoint.

Entertaining

0ne. The story is simply entertaining. It's not great but it helped me get through my commute and work day.

Two. Michael Kramer's performance was fun, comedic, wry and soooo Laguna Beach.

Three. Winslow's writing style works for this tale.

Four. Short pause.

Five. I really don't care for the chapter markers. Question, this audiobook contained how many chapter markers?

Enjoyable Performance

Erik Steele's performance really shines. While I don't think he has a particularly great voice, his performance keeps you wanting more. Quint really comes alive through Steele's great interpretation.

Grover Gardner delivers a great performance

Much has been said about The Stand. You're either going to like, love it or think it is overrated. I really doubt that you're going to hate it. If you think this tale is too long, I don't think you will continue past 300th.

I'm fairly new to audiobooks, far from an aficionado but I think it is safe to say that Gardner is true talent. I enjoyed all of his interpretation of King's characters and I think his pacing is perfect.

Uhmm . . . that's it.
