Stephen reads this book with immense personality and passion and voice. He created such a wonderful environment through his inflection, range and passion. So much so that anyone wanting to read audio books should listen to his to get a perfect idea on how to do it and what you should sound like. Stephen was fantastic in recounting his life both professionally and privately. His reading of it and the energy he brought to it will stay with me forever. And the ending minutes where Stephen and Gillian's daughter asks them questions and how wonderful they get on was not only touching but revealed how close knit a family they are and ultimately what wonderful people they are. Thank you Stephen for inspiring me with your book and how you read it. Very very moving and touching.

Hearing Ted's incredible story in life and music was something I'd hope to get a chance to experience one day and even though I'm disappointed Ted didn't read it himself, I got over it when his stories and experiences filled my ears and mind.

From his time working with The Doobie Brothers, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth, Michael McDonald, Bulletboys and so many more including producer Andy Johns and engineer Don Landee, Ted's storytelling mesmerized me as I've listened to dozens of his productions through the years and been a fan of many.

I loved listening to every musical moment he went through and my only regret is that the book didn't go into even more detail and wasn't longer.

Templeman has lived an incredible life (so far). Thank you Ted for sharing so much in the book and giving so much through music. With Van Halen alone, you changed the face and sound of rock.

Guy Pratt is a master bass player and storyteller, recalling so much from his professional life, playing with so many talented musicians and artists. Hopefully he'll update his book one day as this stops in the mid 2000s. Guy is such a brilliant bass player as well as a hilarious and oh so talented speaker. I could listen to him endlessly. Such a great great audio book.

Kathy's story was long overdue and she told it with candor and honesty. A journey of wonderful highs and brutal lows, she's come out on top and healthy as ever! Her original songs between chapters added to the audio book immensely. A really great listen!

This was the most complete story on the history and life of Bruce Lee I've ever listened to. The incredible and rich attention to detail by author Matthew Polly was nothing short of stunning. Riveting and so informative. An unprecedented book in the life of the greatest martial artist the world has ever seen. Bruce's tenacity, loyalty, charisma, passion and work ethic is a lesson to us all. And the reader Jonathan Todd Ross was clear and concise.

Peter Hook read his book wickedly and brilliantly! His brutal honesty and candor and ease at which he told his story as well as that of Joy Division was absolutely wonderful. Told with meaning, depth and humor, there were times I laughed so hard I cried at the many ridiculous stories of the band pranking and living. It was also a story of heartbreak at how singer Ian Curtis and the band dealt with his epilepsy as well his eventual suicide which resulted in the death of the band and birth of New Order. This book was the best Audiobook I've ever listened to about a band and I have to give full credit to Peter Hook and his fantastic way of storytelling. Not for the meek and tender as there is foul language, however it was an honest element that gave the story weight and humor.

Having Dave Stewart read his memoir to me was a really great time and a journey worth repeating. his ups were joyous and his lows harrowing, and all were a riveting adventure. The music interludes were a rich bonus that brought a lot to the listen. I learned more than I ever thought I would about Dave and it was all fantastic!

Elton's Story...Beyond Brilliant

Taron Egerton, who played Elton John in the film, Rocketman read Elton's memoir ME beautifully. Taron channeled Elton perfectly and read in a relaxed yet focused way which was a perfect way of storytelling. It was as if Elton was actually reading. My only criticism would be when Taron insisted on doing American accents for all the people that were a part of Elton's life: Leon Russell, Tina Turner, David Furnish, etc. It took me out of the story and just sounded presumptuous, unnecessary and felt like Taron was showing off his skills at adopting an American accent. It was the annoying element to an otherwise perfect reading. Having Elton himself read the prologue and epilogue was a brilliant move. A must listen.

Debbie Harry reads her memoir with her inimitable wit, intelligence and clarity. Having Chris Stein, Clem Burke, Gary Valentine and Alannah Currie read their bits is wonderful as well. I wanted the book to last twice as long and go into far greater depth and had Debbie kept journals her entire life as she commented she wish she had, I'm sure it would've been so. What avg unforgettable ride and she's still going strong.

Fascinating Exploration of MTV!

Revisado: 10-23-19

I Want My MTV was a wonderful exploration of the beginning decade of MTV with thoughts and recollections from many who were there behind the scenes, in front of the camera as well as the artists whose music videos they played. It went deep, explaining so much about how the channel began focusing on all things music only to betray that mission statement a decade later with Remote Control, Real World and so many other non music programming that largely destroyed their musical credibility. In the end, MTV's bosses wanted political clout, social influence and the almighty advertising dollar more than being true to themselves, the MUSIC and the many musicians, artists and record labels that gave them their programming for free. A must listen!
