Darkly funny

I just love what R. F. Kuang has written here. What a fine line this protagonist (thinks she) walks, when really, from very early on, she has jumped off the precipice. I don't want to give spoilers but I'll just say, GREAT narration—the main character, Juniper, talks herself into believing she's in the right and Helen Laser embodies that belief in telling the story. Really powerful pairing of author and narrator.

Super fun book

This is a super fun book with great characters, and a mystery that keeps you guessing almost until the very end. I listened to the audiobook, and it is a perfect combination of author and
narrator. Narrator Eunice Wong has a way of making all the characters vocally unique and realistic, without being wacky, And her characterization of Vera Wong is absolutely superb.

Tanya Eby gives both heart and soul in her writing and her narration. This is a book for every woman and man who has been led on and lied to, and who believed it all because they just wanted to be loved. Love is not too much to ask for. In fact, as the author learns, it is what we deserve. And we'll have it if we refuse to settle for less.

The straight truth

Author Elise Lemire grew up in Concord, Massachusetts, all the while unaware that the "birthplace of American liberty" was once a slave town. She digs deep into Concord's history, telling the truth we don't usually hear. Narrator Lee Ann Howlett tells the story with a clear and even tone, giving it to you straight and without apology, and allowing the listener to experience the emotions that inevitably arise when we hear of our nation's injustice. It's a great pairing of author and narrator.

A grand adventure!

Stephanie Willing beautifully narrates her own story of a Texas family in the scary process of learning about themselves, both emotionally and physically, as some of them are not as human as they seem. I don't want to give too much away! But seeing dinosaurs, shape-shifting, commanding the weather, and water, water, water, are all part of this wondrous story of a girl who learns to accept her differences while she accepts those of others. A grand adventure for kids and adults alike.

Enchanting

I loved this enchanting story. It's beautifully written by Jane Johnson with reverence for nature, history, and the uncanny. Narrator Danielle Cohen is terrific; she vocally embodies the fears and desires of the main character while relating a fascinating story full of interesting characters. I especially loved her portrayals of the main character's stylish, Polish mother and her little girl, who is full of wonder and light. A perfect combination of author and narrator!

I loved this pastoral fantasy of a world where people live in harmony with animals and speak the truth to each other. Aven Shore-Kind's writing is loving and her narration is charming, her characters believable without being wacky. The goose is a character with a personality I loved and a sweet purr, while the truth seer comes to see the truth about herself.

Reba Buhr narrates this audiobook in a youthful, energetic tone with a positive vibe, reassuring you that there is help and you are allowed to receive it. Though directed mostly at young women, the information here is useful and valuable for anyone who suffers anxiety and panic attacks and wants to find a solution. The book is a step-by-step, detailed guide through the complications of health insurance, types of therapists, drugs, everything. Buhr has slogged through it all and sorted it out so you don't have to.
