Historia
A mesmerizing, moving, and elegantly written debut novel, The Language of Flowers beautifully weaves past and present, creating a vivid portrait of an unforgettable woman whose gift for flowers helps her change the lives of others even as she struggles to overcome her own troubled past. The Victorian language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions: honeysuckle for devotion, asters for patience, and red roses for love. But for Victoria Jones, it's been more useful in communicating grief, mistrust, and solitude.

Claustrophobia tale
Revisado: 10-19-11
The story is very sad with a redeeming ending. However, the story, and language is so claustrophobic that I would have set it aside if I wasn't reading it for a book club.

I thought I knew the story.......
Revisado: 10-19-11
My 13 year old son and I listen to this while driving 20 hours. It is a mesmerizing story. At first, I thought it was just the "more words" version of the movie, but King's use of language absolutely delighted me. My son loved it. I wouldn't recommend it for younger children - there is murder, violence to children, sex and revenge. But, it was an amazing experience listening to it.

Amazing story, great narrator
Revisado: 10-19-11
I didn't expect to get pulled into this book - the first part is a bit stiff. But, suddenly, I was sucked into the plot and the characters. I love the medical detail and all of the subplots. The narrator's performance is wonderful. When my book club sat down to discuss it, I was the only one to have listened to it on audio. But, that meant that the names were clear to me, but a stumbling block for the others.....

Historia
In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

Historia
Dave Robicheaux felt the bone-grinding pain rip through his body as the .45 did its damage. Through the agonizing haze that enveloped him, he heard an almost inhuman laugh - the hideous, victorious cackling of Jimmie Lee Boggs - a sound he would never forget. It had started out as an ordinary prisoner transfer, then turned into a blood bath when the convicted murderer got hold of a gun.

Such a disappointment
Revisado: 11-06-08
The first part of this book is wonderful, but the second part is truly awful. It is as if the author simply ran out of ideas and went for gross or silly resolution to the mystery. Very disappointing.

My 10 year old son loved this book. It is very funny and he enjoyed all of the problems the children had with getting their wishes granted. It is an old fashion book, but still great fun.
