Beautiful Story
Revisado: 12-27-20
Excellent writing, beautiful and gritty story. I never thought I'd enjoy a romance set during slavery times. Joan Vassar is so talented. Black, Elbert, and James are such virile men who are sensitive and fearless. I cant wait to continue the series!!

Beautiful Writing! Beautiful Narration!
Revisado: 11-08-20
I have never read a romance novel set during slavery times! Ever. I was confused as to how this could be done realistically. Joan Vassar showed us how it's done with this artistically crafted story. I absolutely LOVE everything about this book. in a world where main characters are dope boys and the like, what a refreshing take on black love. Thank you Joan! This is the first of your books I've ever read, but I swear I put you right up there with Love Belvin, Christina C. Jones and Alexandria House. Your talent just leaps off the page. I know the other 3 books aren't on Audible, but who cares! I gotta dive into Elbert, James, and Anthony's stories next. Thank you Honey for sharing your amazing mind with us! I wish you continued success! You deserve it. And.....what can I say about Jakobi Diem? The man is just immensely talented. The way he did old women's voices, young women's voices, old white men, you white men, and a plethora of different black male voices is just insane and shows the depth of his awesomeness. Let me stop typing now because I could go on and on! If you're on the fence....get off! Buy the book!

Historia
Morgan Atkins is used to losing, but losing Messiah Williams was the most tragic of them all. Surely, after Messiah, no other man could compare. Settling with Sebastian Fredrick didn't seem like such an impossible task. He treated her well enough, he accepted her children, and he offered her entrance into a well-connected world. There was only one problem: He wanted to change her into someone else. The rules that went along with his lifestyle suffocated her, and when Morgan reconnected with Messiah's crew, she no longer wanted to play by Bash’s rules.

This book kept me emotionally hostage the entire time. I listened when it first came out. I had to give it some time before I could revisit it. This is stellar storytelling at its best. Ashley Antoinette is a literary marvel.

Nothing short of excellent!
Revisado: 04-22-20
The story is beautifully written. Akexandria is a master of dialogue and can write a pretty hot erotic scene. The narrators are the best in the business. Wesleigh Siobhan showed every female narrator how this thing is supposed to be done. Jakobi Diem's voice is nothing short of orgasmic. Alexandria House could write a VCR manual and with Jakobi and Wesleigh nareating, it would be a best seller. Thank you all so much for sharing your gifts with us. Looking for Shu next. I can't wait. Until then, let me listen to Set and Jah a few more times. I love y'all to life!

With Jakobi Diem and Wesley Siobhan
narrating , you can't go wrong. This book was okay, if not very predictable. No surprises. No real drama. It's just, okay. The two narrators elevated it.

Excellent story and Narration
Revisado: 12-25-19
I loved the story. I'm new to Jessica N. Watkins' work, and I've not been disappointed yet! I wonder how she managed to get all of the hottest voice actors in the game on this one project! Carey Hite, Nicole Small, and Jacobi Diem? All together? Oh my goodness! It was just too much. Loved it ALL. Can't wait to listen to Part 2. I'm praying that the same narrators are reading it.

No one is this dumb!
Revisado: 06-17-19
I almost quit listening to this book so many times because I kept thinking that this has to be the dumbest b*tch in the world. There ain't that much love in the world to continually allow yourself to be brutalized, especially when you have options. This book is 10 hours long on Audible, and I swear 8 of those hours were spent detailing the main character's abuse. Too drawn out. The author could've spent some time following up with the mother. Nicole Small as narrator was brilliant per usual. The selfless young boy who was there for the main character from the first chapter just dropped out of sight, never to return. I really thought the title meant that they would see each other again to give us all closure! Nope. The book is good, but as an avid reader big discrepancies stand out to me. Also, how does Monty spend extravagantly for years after being awarded only 1 million dollars? I mean, EXTRAVAGANTLY!

My favorite couple!
Revisado: 04-22-19
Of all the McClain couples, I like Sage and Neal best. I thought Leland and Kim were my faves until this book. I love the twists and surprises in this book. Just when you think you know who did what, it's actually someone else. The sexual tension in this one was so fire! Neal is my kind of man. Loving, protective, outspoken, conscious, talented, smart and a freak! How can you get any better? I thought he was the weakest brother, but now I see Neal in a whole new light. Loved this book! I'm so glad that the narrators have been consistent throughout the series, too! They are both very talented and really make these characters real! Kudos to them!!
