I think the title is misleading
Revisado: 02-03-25
Having read previous splatter books, this one tried to be too clever intermixing the modern political and sexual arena with a western. Too much of what we hear everyday.

Why do narrators think they have to be actors?
Revisado: 01-10-24
The inflections in the readers voice are overdone and tiring. What ever happened to unbiased reading. The reader tries to make getting a drink from the fridge a major event in suspense. When something actually suspenseful happens the reader has no room left to escalate, it was used up for every other insignificant event.

Ridiculous!!
Revisado: 01-10-24
Very contrived. Unrealistic and very easy to anticipate, You know the ending 10 minutes after starting, Why do authors create idiots? They don’t have the ability to create intelligent characters or just anticipate ignorant readers? This story is a good example.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Who’s this guy?
Revisado: 11-19-21
I used to enjoy L. Block but his more recent stories seem like they are about a day in the life of a troubled alcoholic. Just too much AA stuff and jargon. This obsession or whatever it is is distracting while trying to following the plot.

Awful narration
Revisado: 11-19-21
The story would have been enjoyable if not for the whining of the reader. He lent no sense of manliness to John Carter he sounded like a sissy. I had to stop listening because of irritating voice and inflection of the narrator. The narration in the first book was infinitely better. Too Bad for we listeners.

Historia
Reacher goes where he wants, when he wants. That morning he was heading west, walking under the merciless desert sun — until he comes upon a curious scene. A Jeep has crashed into the only tree for miles around. A woman is slumped over the wheel. Dead? No, nothing is what it seems. The woman is Michaela Fenton, an army veteran turned FBI agent trying to find her twin brother, who might be mixed up with some dangerous people. Most of them would rather die than betray their terrifying leader.

Where did Reacher go?
Revisado: 11-01-21
Different Reacher. Between the poor representation of Reachers voice and changed behavior, this is not really a Reacher story. It is a story about a different character, one that doesn’t interest me. What a let down, Reacher is no more.
