Historia
Introduced shortly after the United States declared its independence, poker's growth and development has paralleled that of America itself. As a gambling game with mass appeal, poker has been played by presidents and peasants, at kitchen tables and final tables, for matchsticks and millions. First came the hands, then came the stories - some true, some pure bluffs, and many in between. In Poker & Pop Culture: Telling the Story of America's Favorite Card Game, Martin Harris shares these stories while chronicling poker's progress.

some interesting, complete content, but dry and unexciting. reader wasn't bad but needed to be better to add a little pizzazz to keep it listenable

Who in their right mind tells both his lawyer and the judge presiding over his murder trial, “F--k you!” while still in the courtroom? No one, right? Yeah, you’d be wrong about that. I did. You’d say the same thing if you were just found guilty of a murder you didn’t commit, though. Call me crazy for going off like that in court, but trust me, you don’t know crazy until you see what happened next.

Geek Erotica
Revisado: 05-01-21
Basically, this reads like a giant letter to Penthouse forum. It is basically geek erotica. The story is pretty flimsy, but the performances are really good. I am not a prude, so I have no problem with the graphic sex, it is just a bit sophomoric for my taste.

amateurish
Revisado: 10-02-15
the whole time reading this book, I couldn't decide if it was falling flat because of poor writing or reading or just poor production and I think the answer is all three. It wasn't unreadable. I was able to make it to the end, but I can't recommend it.

Historia
The 1980s was the most outrageous and turbulent era in the financial market since the crash of ’29, not only on Wall Street but around the world. Michael Lewis, as a trainee at Salomon Brothers in New York and as an investment banker and later financial journalist, was uniquely positioned to chronicle the ambition and folly that fueled the decade. In these trenchant, often hilarious true tales we meet the colorful movers and shakers who commanded the headlines and rewrote the rules.

Any additional comments?
This was an excellent overlay between the consequences of what happened (most of which I wasn't really aware of) and the cultures that influenced the directions of things. It was interesting from start to finish.

Historia
Rachel Morgan is a runner with the Inderland Runner Services, apprehending law-breakers throughout Cincinnati. She's also a witch, one of the many Inderlanders who revealed themselves after a genetically engineered virus wiped out 50 percent of humanity. Witches, warlocks, vampires, werewolves: the creatures of dreams and nightmares have lived beside humans for centuries, hiding their powers. But now they've stopped hiding, and nothing will be the same.

Terrible
Revisado: 04-25-11
I have a very high tolerance for audio books. I have listened to audio books that I would NEVER EVER actually read because they were still okay to fill the time while commuting. But, this book is nearing intolerable. The smug, pulpy tone is that of someone that drones on and on thinking they are clever and charismatic while really saying nothing and just droning on and on. This may be the only audio book I ever do not finish. I dread hitting play.
