Historia
Clayton Stumper might be in his twenties, but he dresses like your grandpa and fusses like your aunt. Abandoned at birth on the steps of the Fellowship of Puzzlemakers, he was raised by a group of eccentric enigmatologists and now finds himself among the last survivors of a fading institution. When the esteemed crossword compiler and main maternal presence in Clayton’s life, Pippa Allsbrook, passes away, she bestows her final puzzle on him: a promise to reveal the mystery of his parentage and prepare him for life beyond the walls of the commune.

For the puzzler and the reader…perfection
Revisado: 07-24-24
This is a puzzle, a story about family -the ones you choose to fill in your own life’s puzzle-and an adventure. The characters are marvelous and each have their own puzzle to solve. Mostly it’s about love.

Only Murders in Gotham, the smash hit streaming show, is famous for filming in authentic New York City locations and using real New Yorkers as extras. For their latest episode, they've chosen to spotlight the century-old Village Blend and its quirky crew of baristas. But when the film crew's week of shooting delivers an actual shooting, coffeehouse manager and master roaster Clare Cosi and her staff find themselves at the scene of a true crime.

Like slipping in to comfy shoes,
Revisado: 11-23-23
I couldn’t wait to listen to Cleo Coyle’s Bulletproof Barista. Putting my earbuds on and hearing Rebecca Gibel’s familiar voice was like slipping on comfortable slippers and enjoying a hot cup of coffee. The baristas have felt like family-I love their quirky characters. I felt extra gifted with a flashback to Madame’s time at The Village Blend’s scene. The story was perfectly timed and written and I wanted to savor it longer but alas….I just needed more and more and each twist and turn delivered all I wanted.

Historia
As one of the music world’s most iconic artists and the cofounder of the organizations ONE and (RED), Bono’s career has been written about extensively. But in Surrender, it’s Bono who picks up the pen, writing for the first time about his remarkable life and those he has shared it with. In his unique voice, Bono takes us from his early days growing up in Dublin, including the sudden loss of his mother when he was fourteen, to U2’s unlikely journey to become one of the world’s most influential rock bands, to his more than twenty years of activism.

Surrender – relating in a way I never saw coming
Revisado: 03-03-23
Although I’ve loved Bono’s music and voice for decades and admired and respected his activism and the way he’s shown up in ways that millions couldn’t, I was expecting to enjoy the book. Based on Brene Brown’s interview we bought the Audible version and my husband, the bigger U2 fan, listened first. When it was finally my turn, I listened in the car and on walks. I wasn’t expecting the constant “oh wait, I need to hear that again!” “I need to actually now buy the book and highlight these passages!” “Rewind again to hear what you need to hear AGAIN” moments. I had so many. Hearing how his faith, his love, his gifts, his experiences, and especially his humility shaped him helped shape this 60-year old and make her feel hopeful and ready to surrender and reshape what is left. Thank you!
