Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard, is about to have a very bad day.… Because as Winter Knight to the Queen of Air and Darkness, Harry never knows what the scheming Mab might want him to do. Usually, it’s something awful. He doesn’t know the half of it… Mab has just traded Harry’s skills to pay off one of her debts. And now he must help a group of supernatural villains - led by one of Harry’s most dreaded and despised enemies, Nicodemus Archleone - to break into the highest-security vault in town, so that they can then access the highest-security vault in the Nevernever.

This does not feel like Dresdin Files
Revisado: 03-03-22
From the characters explaining to Dresdin why he is so mentally messed up to the graphic sex scenes, this does not feel like a Dresdin files book. The other books bordered on the line of being weird and bad, this one topples over that line.

Historia
Ravirn is not your average computer geek. A child of the Fates - literally - he’s a hacker extraordinaire who can zero in on the fatal flaw in any program. Now that 21st-century magic has gone digital that makes him a very talented sorcerer. But a world of problems is about to be downloaded on Ravirn - who’s just trying to pass his college midterms. Great Aunt Atropos, one of the three Fates, decides that humans having free will is really overrated and plans to rid herself of the annoyance....

A fun story with some good and bad
Revisado: 10-27-21
I enjoyed this book, the magic system is pretty unique and fun to listen to. I like that Ravirn spends most of the book getting rekt because he is physically weak with a powerful mind. Mel is a great character, and one of the best wizard's familiar type characters I've ever seen. This story does have a lot of bad to go with the good.
The love interest (who's name I refuse to actually learn) is horrible. The first physical description of her is what her boobs look like, and that's a pretty accurate summery both of how female characters are represented in this book and of the love interest's personality. She is just a walking pair of tits, a prize for Ravirn to win. She is also distantly related to Ravirn which made the romance pretty disgusting.
As a computer info major, some of the techno-babble stood out as stupid. The big one is the characters specifying exact file locations instead of shortcutting the process with slashes, which I feel like should be common knowledge to master hackers. The idea of a virus killing the entire mweb is also pretty laughable, having the entire mweb on one server proved to me right away that the fates are incompetent. Eris' set up of hundreds of micro computers hosting many virtual servers makes way more sense for the sake of both security and organization, which is pretty funny as she is the goddess of chaos.
This book needed a female editor and the author probably should have talked with more computer experts, but overall this book was good. I recommend you read it for the interesting story and magic system and just do your best to ignore the sexy lamp love interest.

Historia
A group of pretend adventurers suit up for a campaign called "The South Seas Treasure Game". As in the early role-playing games, there are dungeon masters, warriors, magicians, and thieves. The difference? At Dream Park, a futuristic fantasy theme park full of holographic attractions and the latest in VR technology, they play in an artificial enclosure that has been enhanced with special effects, holograms, actors, and a clever story line. The players get as close as possible to truly living their adventure.

Surprisingly Great
Revisado: 06-04-21
This was the first book I ever bought on Audible. It was on sale for a few bucks and I decided to pick it up because it was really long and I like listening to books at work. I had low expectations, but this book is actually really, really good. I recommend it.

Historia
Young Omen Daenoth cannot control his deadly supernatural powers. The only thing keeping him from inadvertently destroying everyone and everything around him is a dragon-forged artifact. But when the item is stolen, Omen can either give up his freedom and admit he's a monster, or find a way to rein in his chaotic psionics. Terrified his devastating power will kill an innocent, Omen enters into a shady deal with an undead alchemist and fights his way through the fabled, underground Night Games of the arcane city of Hex to retrieve what he has lost.

A decent kids books
Revisado: 05-27-21
This is a decent kids book with some great ideas. The main thing holding it back from being truly great is pandering to the intended audience. When I was a kid, I read dragonlance and the dark elf books. Those books did not feel the need to simplify anything for a child audience.
One last critique, the characterization in this book was incredibly confusing. As I understood, Omen is supposed to be kind of timid and not very street smart while Templar is supposed to be confident and hot-blooded. While these are the basic character traits, the characters often stray from them. Templar will sometimes become timid and confused about things he should know about for a few sentences, and Omen will gain big dick confidence for a few sentences, before both characters go back to normal. It felt incredibly strange.
I will listen to the other books in this series because they are free, I need something to listen to at work, they have some pretty good ideas (the night games are very creative and fun), and they are a good creative exercise when thinking about "how would I have improved this book."

A complete crime fiction box set! Homicide detective Thomas Prescott may be retired—but a serial killer, a high-profile murder, an ill-fated cruise, and a chilling small-town crime add more than enough excitement to his hard-earned rest. This collection includes the first four books: Unforeseen, Gray Matter, The Afrikaans, and Show Me.

Revisado: 05-10-21
Thomas is an incredibly funny guy who goes through a series of terrible events but always comes out on top. I really loved these books. The only reason I gave it a 4/5 is because the way woman are written is weird and kind of bad.

Albert Johannson's forgotten more than he remembers about his past, but two things he's sure of: hH's lived a long, long time, and he doesn't trust anyone, particularly gods. He's not too fond of demons either, particularly the one that shows up in his kitchen looking for help with a supernatural investigation.
