First book is bad, second things get a lot better
Revisado: 10-26-24
First book suffers from being unbelievably generic, second things bloom into a fairly unique world. The author is very heavy handed in exposition dumping, you can predict most of the story beats. Dialog could be better, but at the end of the day this book is just okay.

Historia
It is one of the most well-known and well-loved fantasy epics of the twentieth century: the story of Elric, emperor of the dying kingdom of Melniboné. For a hundred centuries the Melnibonéans have ruled from the Dragon Isle of Imrryr. Now, after years of corruption and decadence, Elric’s amoral cousin Prince Yyrkoon, the brother of his beloved Cymoril, sets his eyes on the Ruby Throne. Elric must face his treacherous cousin not as a warrior but as a sorcerer king once again in league with the ancient gods of Melniboné, the Chaos Lords, and thus sealing his inexorable fate.

Product of its time
Revisado: 07-16-24
This is by no means a bad set of stories, however a lot of tropes that eventually become common place occur here. These stories may of set these tropes, but that doesn't degrade the fact that these tropes have been expounded and done better elsewhere, leaving the story feeling a bit lackluster and piled high on tropes.
