Historia
Drawn from Dr. Bob Wendorf's 36-year career as a clinical psychologist, the book examines the lives of some of his most troubled patients in a project that aims to both educate and fascinate the listener. Clinical syndromes are described and dramatized by real-life case examples (altered only as necessary to protect patient confidentiality).

Stigmatizing
Revisado: 01-14-23
This book is awful. I wish I had never heard it. The author is frank about his personal thoughts about the patients he describes, lifting the veil on the relationship between patient and therapist. He describes laughing at patients with his colleagues, and brags about his "one shot wonders". When describing his young patients, you can hear the affection as he describes them with respect. But his adult patients who suffer from debilitating severe mental illness are treated like a circus sideshow in a chapter called "The Truly Crazies". In a chapter on suicide he is flippant and dismissive through much of it, informing us that most suicide attempts are by naive young people who have been dumped. There is no mention of the long lasting, deep psychic pain suffered by some with severe depression where every day can be a struggle to NOT end your life. I do not recommend this book to anyone.

Historia
How is it possible for the disciplines of cosmology, geology, anthropology, biology, and history to fit together? These 48 lectures answer that question by weaving a single story from accounts of the past developed by a variety of scholarly disciplines. The result is a story stretching from the origins of the universe to the present day and beyond, in which human history is seen as part of the history of our Earth and biosphere, and the Earth's history, in turn, is seen as part of the history of the universe.

Historia
To have been alive during the last 60 years is to have lived with the music of Paul Simon. The boy from Queens scored his first hit record in 1957, just months after Elvis Presley ignited the rock era. As the songwriting half of Simon & Garfunkel, his work helped define the youth movement of the '60s. On his own in the '70s, Simon made radio-dominating hits. He kicked off the '80s by reuniting with Garfunkel to perform for half a million New Yorkers in Central Park. Five years later Simon's album Graceland sold millions. And it doesn't stop there.

If you love Paul Simon, you won't be disappointed
Revisado: 02-03-17
This is a complete biography of Simon's artistic work. At times triumphant, at others heartbreaking. The author doesn't shy away from Simon's weaknesses, either. This book will be greatly appreciated by his fans.
