Good story, but why didn’t they edit it?

The story is fun enough. A pretty straightforward suspense. But the editing is terrible! At points it sounds like the sound cuts out after every sentence. At other times there is white noise behind the voice. It sounds like a first draft. Also, the narrator pronouncing abdomen as “abdomem” over and over is killing me.

Happy, low-angst, sappy-sexy love story

Things I love about this book:
1. the angst on this story is super low-level; you’ll feel good the whole read
2. both main characters are utterly lovable
3. side characters also lovable and/or redeemable
4. Wise Grandparent trope
5. sex scenes are conversations and moments of tenderness blended with the smut…as an asexual who typically fast-forwards through sex scenes, I actually listen to these because they advance the relationship
6. excellent pacing of their relationship development —not too slow, not too fast
7. the audiobook narrator does a fantastic job A++ 💯💯

Fun listen. I didn’t see it coming and I usually pride myself on that. It’s not over til it’s over. This is like the opposite of “dramatic irony.” Check it out, it’s fun. It’s on a Wuthering Heights scale of Antagonist Protagonists. Will check out more by this author.

“Spectrumy, fearsome, and sexy.” This description of the goddess is accurate to this story. What a fun, intelligent, romantic, silly, deep, relatable tale. Not for the close-minded. I will definitely listen to more of this podcast.

Amazing but intense

I’m in chapter 5, not even done yet, and I think it’s important this story has a major trigger warning of self-inflicted death by hanging. I’m on a binge of audible plus suspense thrillers, and this one is more intense than the last few I’ve read. Fantastic gripping story.

The main character is insufferable

I tried so hard to love this book, but I could never like the main character/narrator. She’s the whiniest, most spineless chronic liar I’ve ever seen, at least in a character the reader is supposed to like. I kept holding out hope that she would develop some smidge of self-worth and honesty, but alas. The truth only comes out when her friends find out and force her to tell the truth. There is no actual character arc; she’s the same person she was at the beginning.

That said, if her wretched personality and lack of growth doesn’t bother you, and if you like the slowest slow burn in the history of slow burns, it does have an interesting plot.

Gorgeous story, perfect narration

I have listened to this audiobook countless times. It all started when I read it on kindle unlimited and fell in love with Theo and Henry falling in love. Then I bought the audiobook, and the narration is absolutely perfect. The inflections of the characters are spot on and help illuminate the story. I have bought several audiobooks because he is the performer, and he is incredible.
This story is so sweet and pure, sexy and romantic. If you enjoy enemies to lovers and sports/competition m/m romance…me too! And I promise, this book is at the top of the genre.
