Sam Vines is a man on the run. Yesterday, he was a duke, a chief of police, and an ambassador. Now he has nothing but his native wit and the gloomy trousers of Uncle Vanya. And if he can't make it through the forest to civilisation, there's going to be a terrible war. But there are monsters on his trail. They're werewolves - and they're catching up. Sam Vimes is out of time and already out of breath....

Absolute gem.
Revisado: 04-23-19
Anybody new to Pratchett and 'Discworld', should ideally start at the beginning. As Pratchett' character development, is truly wonderful to behold.
However, all those rulebreakers out there can easily pick up any of the series dive in and just appreciate it, as a standalone.
Well worth the credit.

Really enjoyed the fast pace and the twisting plot to this. Suspenseful, dark and ultimately satisfying.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

SJW and PC crowd heaven
Revisado: 11-20-17
Having the the protagonist as a Muslim woman and flaunting her sexual proclivity on the audience, added nothing to the story and was so 'right on', it'll make you reach for the bucket.
What's more, as a follow on to 'Martian', it's a big FAT flopp.

Historia
Already internationally acclaimed for his elegant, lucid writing on the most challenging notions in modern physics, Sean Carroll is emerging as one of the greatest humanist thinkers of his generation as he brings his extraordinary intellect to bear not only on the Higgs boson and extra dimensions but now also on our deepest personal questions. Where are we? Who are we? Are our emotions, our beliefs, and our hopes and dreams ultimately meaningless out there in the void?

Speculates about everything, other than the possibility of creationism. Because that's preposterous, isn't it?
Another theoretical scientist who knows damn well, there's levels of different dimensions we can't see or comprehend, but will tell you for a certainty that they don't influence the three we exist in.

Historia
The fourth book in the Science of Discworld series, and this time around dealing with the really big questions, Terry Pratchett’s brilliant new Discworld story Judgement Day is annotated with very big footnotes (the interleaving chapters) by mathematician Ian Stewart and biologist Jack Cohen, to bring you a mind-mangling combination of fiction, cutting-edge science and philosophy.Marjorie Daw is a librarian, and takes her job – and indeed the truth of words – very seriously. She doesn’t know it, but her world and ours – Roundworld – is in big trouble.

A classic theology of atheism. Pick what suits
Revisado: 11-14-16
Methodology that is encased in the exact thing it portrays to abhor. Decides all religious leanings are the same and is, as pompous as could be.
Loved the 'make-believe' Discworld bits, but the arrogance of perceived intellect, from the 'factual' interludes was embarrassing.
'can't explain the basics' Dawkins, would be proud.
