Historia
For a thousand years, the Sabbat Worlds have been lost to the Imperium, claimed by the dread powers of Chaos. Now, a mighty crusade seeks to return the sector to Imperial rule. And at the forefront of that crusade are Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt and the Tanith First and Only - better known as Gaunt’s Ghosts. Trapped in the grinding trench warfare of Fortis Binary, the Ghosts find themselves drawn into a conspiracy to assassinate the crusade’s leader, Warmaster Macaroth.

Couldn’t even finish it.
Revisado: 02-07-23
I don’t understand how anyone can like this book. The author labels paragraphs chapters, no character has any depth, and there is no reason to care about any of them. It skips back and forth between sprinting through Guant’s backstory and the sprinting through the present day.
We meet Gaunt’s mentor for three paragraphs, then in the next flashback he is dead and its explained in two sentences. In the present it starts a battle then skips to several hours in. The book largely introduces characters that don’t have models for the game just so they can be killed off next “chapter.”
To top it all of the voice acting is cliche. Really, the regiment called “Tanith” are Scottish, and their leader is Victorian styled British? Yikes.

Historia
Beyond the edge of the galaxy lies the Unknown Regions: chaotic, uncharted, and near impassable, with hidden secrets and dangers in equal measure. And nestled within its swirling chaos is the Ascendancy, home to the enigmatic Chiss and the Nine Ruling Families that lead them. The peace of the Ascendancy, a beacon of calm and stability, is shattered after a daring attack on the Chiss capital that leaves no trace of the enemy.

Easily the best Thrawn Novel Yet!
Revisado: 03-11-21
Zahn knocks it out of the park here! Given almost complete freedom to do whatever he wants, Zahn shows us what Star Wars can really be, and what a story outside of the normal rules of Jedi and Sith, and Empire and Rebellion can really be like!
Also does a good job of showing Thrawn as a younger man, showing him grow and mature while still being recognizable and consistent. The new characters fit naturally into the setting and story, and Chiss Ascendency has become my new favorite Star Wars Faction!

Historia
The Battle of Serenity Valley was the turning point that led the Independents to their defeat at the hands of the Alliance. Yet the Browncoats had held the valley for weeks against all odds, before being ordered to lay down their arms. Command stated they refused to send in airpower because the ground war was "too hot". But the soldiers who were there insist that was not true.... While picking up a new cargo on Persephone, Captain Malcolm Reynolds is kidnapped by a bunch of embittered veteran Browncoats who suspect him of sabotaging the Independents during the war.

Scratches that Firefly itch perfectly!

Reads as a slightly stretched out episode of the show! Perfect for those feeling “only 1 season?” symptoms.

Historia
The most mysterious of twists, turns, and amusing misfortunes occur in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and the sequel, Through the Looking Glass. In the first book, we are introduced to the origins of Alice's journey, as she encounters the elusive White Rabbit, the Caterpillar, the Queen of Hearts, and, of course, the guests of the Mad Tea Party.

Want to know what being high is like? Listen to this book!
Revisado: 03-11-21
I genuinely do not understand why this is considered a classic. It reads like an acid trip taken after you have started smoking weed. There is no rhyme or reason to any part of the stories at any point in time. I could not listen to more than about half an hour at a time because I felt like I was high despite being completely sober.
If thats what you are looking for, well, I suppose I can recommend it then. I suppose really small children would like it as well. Perhaps I am just not part of the target audience then.

Historia
As the Empire reels from its critical defeats at the Battle of Endor, the Rebel Alliance—now a fledgling New Republic—presses its advantage by hunting down the enemy’s scattered forces before they can regroup and retaliate. But above the remote planet Akiva, an ominous show of the enemy’s strength is unfolding. Out on a lone reconnaissance mission, pilot Wedge Antilles watches Imperial Star Destroyers gather like birds of prey circling for a kill, but he’s taken captive before he can report back to the New Republic leaders.

A waste of a good narrator.
Revisado: 10-04-19
Marc Thompson is probably the best narrator I have listened to through this service. His work with Timothy Zahn's Thrawn books, both the originals and the Disney timeline novels, is amazing. His voice is just as good in this audio-book, unfortunately, it is also the only good thing about this audio-book.
The story is bland, and unwilling to take real risks. There are several dozen instances of characters dying, only for the author to suddenly remember that he need that character for later and finding some cop-out to pretend they didn't just obviously die. It makes all potential danger meaningless. There is also next to no chemistry between any of the characters, even the mother/son relationship feels fake. It is also full of modern slang that doesn't appear in any other piece of Star Wars, and, most bizarrely, actually contains a reference to a 1930s cartoon character.
Check out the other books Marc Thompson narrates, especially all 6 of the unabridged Thrawn books (3 Legends, 3 canon)
