The Series Keeps Getting Better
Revisado: 03-10-25
First, Shazia Nicholls has narrated all of the books in the series and she is wonderful. I love listening to her soothing voice. Second, the book isn't woke and it isn't political. It is a wonderful cozy mystery.

The world has changed. Now, when someone is murdered, they almost always come back to life—and there are professionals, called “dispatchers”, who kill in order to save lives, to give those near the end a second chance. Tony Valdez is a dispatcher, and he has never been busier. But for as much as the world has changed, some things have stayed the same. Greed, corruption, and avarice are still in full swing.

Wonderful
Revisado: 11-26-18
This was the most amazing original audible production to which I have ever listened. It is amazing and, something that you don't normally get in just about anything today, intelligent.
Billy Crystal is a genius. I have always thought so and he always will be and this just proves it. Kevin Kline as David Murray was amazing. Annette Bening as the first ladies was genius. And quite frankly Chris Jackson steals the show. His quips are spectacularly timed.
so, my recommendation is that you give this a listen and then you share it with your friends and convince them to listen. This is what I am going to do. You will not regret it.

Historia
Eddie Chapman was a charming criminal, a con man, and a philanderer. He was also one of the most remarkable double agents Britain has ever produced. Inside the traitor was a man of loyalty; inside the villain was a hero. The problem for Chapman, his spymasters, and his lovers was to know where one persona ended and the other began.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Funny, Edge of Seat Thrilling
Revisado: 11-16-15
I have ADHD and I often start books and leave them unfinished. Not so with The Martian. This book gripped me from the beginning and kept going. I looked forward to my drive into work, so I could listen to it. Even the technical details didn't bog down the story. The narration by R.C. Bray was the best I've ever heard. With as many voices in the story, a lot of narrators wouldn't be able to handle it. Bray masters them. Each voice is distinct and well done. In addition, a lot of men do not do well with women's voices, but Bray does an excellent job. I purchased this book because I wanted to read it before I went to see the movie. It did not disappoint. I highly recommend it.

Historia
The Passage of Power follows Lyndon Johnson through both the most frustrating and the most triumphant periods of his career - 1958 to 1964. It is a time that would see him trade the extraordinary power he had created for himself as Senate Majority Leader for what became the wretched powerlessness of a Vice President in an administration that disdained and distrusted him. Yet it was, as well, the time in which the presidency, the goal he had always pursued, would be thrust upon him in the moment it took an assassin’s bullet to reach its mark.

Lyndon Johnson's Fair Shake
Revisado: 10-11-12
I purchased this book because, truth be told, I didn't know anything about Johnson beyond that he succeeded Kennedy and escalated the War in Vietnam. This book describes his being chosen as Vice President, the election and the transition after the Kennedy assassination.
The book shows Johnson as he was - all his flaws are shown, as well as his gifts. President Johnson wasn't perfect, but he was the best man for the job. Since the sixties, his triumphs have been overlooked and his flaws have been highlighted.
If you want a well balanced and magnificent look at the 36th President, this book is where you will find it. I cannot wait for the next volume in Caro's series on Johnson.

Historia
James A. Garfield may have been the most extraordinary man ever elected president. Born into abject poverty, he rose to become a wunderkind scholar, a Civil War hero, and a renowned and admired reformist congressman. Nominated for president against his will, he engaged in a fierce battle with the corrupt political establishment. But four months after his inauguration, a deranged office seeker tracked Garfield down and shot him in the back. But the shot didn’t kill Garfield. The drama of what happened subsequently is a powerful story of a nation in turmoil.

A Story You Probably Haven't Heard
Revisado: 08-28-12
I didn't know anything about the second assassinated President in our nation's brief history. Garfield hadn't wanted to be President. When he was shot on July 2, 1881; he was only four months into his term. He lived eleven long weeks during which he was subjected to unsound medical tests and procedures that, most likely, killed him.
I listed to this book on my long drive to and from work. The book fascinated me and I found myself yelling in disgust at the horrible procedures they put Garfield through. The narrator, Paul Micheal, has a voice that keeps you on the edge of your feet. Candice Millard's writing is top notch. Her research shows in the facts presented. You have a real feel as if this happened last week instead of more than 100 years ago.
