Goodness gracious!! What an amazing trip flying above the Syrian dessert and sloshing beneath NY’s East River. And so many more visually stimulating scenes.
The characters are unforgettable with clearly defined personalities. Remarkably, the narrator imbues them with distinct and subtle accents which sound different from one another but capture their actual life experiences. Hard to articulate so why don’t you dive in and enjoy the magic yourself.
This is one remarkable sequel to an equally perfect book, The Golem and the Jinni. In fact, definitely start with that one.
The good guys are conflicted and the bad guys are horrible.
Please read them both and have a rollicking great time!!

Donna Tartt Can Do No Wrong

So innovative and interesting. Ms Tartt is possibly the most interesting writer in the USA. This long story just slips along. Even after 20 hours I was sad when it ended.

Understanding the nobility of indigenous people. p

Osceola and his family and tribe can never be forgotten after reading this book. It is important to know and understand the oppression that we of European descent have done to them in our greed and aggression. This is a perfect book for you if you want to understand the complex Seminole Wars.

uuummm. I love Christopher Stone, but, well..

The first half of this is pure Stone. Intriguing, fast-paced, intelligent, and crisp use of language. The second half, and please disagree with me, is just weird. The story goes galloping along, but the philosophical musings are just a little much. Don't NOT read it. It's a lot of fun, detailed and nuanced. So, I'll still dive into his great books. Tell me what you think.

Tears in my eyes that this book is over.

As a descendant of a Dutchman who arrived in New Amsterdam as a lad in 1640 I admit I am more inclined than many to adore this historical novel. However, it is so true and real one feels that they are in the settlement and a part of the grimy hurly burly and political ping pong that existed. The author is a master of irony and poetic descriptions. Read it you’ll love it. Thank you, Russel Shorto.

Amazing experience

This might have been the best book I have ever read. The story, though simple, is a remarkable tale of bright and talented people. But the pain of reading it is as severe as the pain in the mans face on the books cover. Yet, I could not stop listening to it. One drawback. The story could have been told in fewer chapters. It's big so therefore you get a real bang for your buck.
