Just gets better and better! How many times have I read and listened? I've lost count. Once I was able to separate Grover Gardner from the terrifying narration of Stephen King's The Stand, I appreciate his fine work on this series.
And Lois McMaster Bujold never fails to astound. The characters, of course, the world building, the stores themselves, my gods, her metaphors and analogies.!

Historia
On their first night in Paris, the Gamaches gather as a family for a bistro dinner with Armand’s godfather, the billionaire Stephen Horowitz. But an attempt on the elderly man’s life sends Armand, his wife, Reine-Marie, and his former second-in-command at the Sûreté, Jean-Guy Beauvoir, from the top of the Tour d’Eiffel, to the bowels of the Paris Archives, from luxury hotels to odd, coded works of art. It sends them deep into the secrets Armand’s godfather has kept for decades.

narrator's voices remain disappointing
Revisado: 07-17-23
This is one of my favorites in the series!
I don't understand why, if he read the Parisiens with a French accent, he couldn't do the same for the Francophones. and the voice of Daniel, in particular, was just awful.

Historia
When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.

Historia
The final book in the landmark Cazalet Chronicles, recently broadcast on BBC Radio 4. It is the 1950s and as the Cazalets' beloved matriarch, the Duchy, passes away, she takes with her the last remnants of a world - of great houses and servants, of class and tradition - in which the Cazalets have thrived. Louise, now divorced, becomes entangled in a painful affair; while Polly and Clary must balance marriage and motherhood with their own ideas and ambitions.

not the best for last, but still good
Revisado: 04-01-22
I didn't enjoy this narrator as much as the reader of the first four in the series. There were issues with continuity with the earlier books as well, which I found distracting. However, it was lovely, if heart wrenching to spend time with the Cazelets one more time.
I'll certainly listen to the whole series again.

Historia
When Hail confronts the Farian gods, the last thing she expected was to discover that they were part of a race of aliens who'd attacked the galaxy long before humanity's ancestors had crawled out of the sludge of Earth's oceans. The discovery carries with it dire news: the Hiervet, who'd once subjugated the mighty Svatir, are coming - a consequence of Hail's decision not to kill the Farian gods. Now the fate of the galaxy is on the line, and Hail will have to make one final gamble to leverage chaos into peace.

Revisado: 05-11-21
Thanks for a wonderful conclusion to the six book series! Very satisfying end to what was brilliantly written and narrated. Sad, though, to leave the various characters I've come to know and love. I'll hear the voices in my head for some time to come, and of course, will listen and read many more times.

KB Wagers just keeps getting better, at the writing, the stories, and off course, their wonderful characters. Angele seems to have changed a coke of the characters voices a bit, but not enough to distract. So well done! Thank you both

Great writing, characters, and world building and the narrator adds to the perfection. While this concludes the Indranan War series, you'll be happy to know the story continues in the Farian War series. I've read the series this far once and listened twice. It gets better each time.

Historia
A revolution brewing for generations has begun in fire. It will end in blood. The Free Navy - a violent group of Belters in black-market military ships - has crippled the Earth and begun a campaign of piracy and violence among the outer planets. The colony ships heading for the thousand new worlds on the far side of the alien ring gates are easy prey, and no single navy remains strong enough to protect them. James Holden and his crew know the strengths and weaknesses of this new force better than anyone.

I do wish, however, the narrator would learn to pronounce gimbal correctly. Wrong in the first book and this one, okay in two through five. Why.?
