Always a Wild Ride!
Revisado: 07-06-12
What made the experience of listening to Florida Roadkill the most enjoyable?
As a Floridian, it is always fun for me to read stories that give me a glimpse of places I know and have been to. Tim Dorsey's characters not only live here, but Serge Storms is fanatical about Florida's history, the flora and fauna, and every little thing that a Florida insider would learn from growing up here - and then some. It's like a wild and rollicking travelogue that just happens to take place in Florida.
What other book might you compare Florida Roadkill to and why?
The Serge Storms books are a lovely mix of Carl Hiiasen and Jeff Lindsay - unique comedy, lots of action, adventure and a lovable 'serial killer' - although I'm not sure Serge really qualifies as a serial killer.
Which character – as performed by George Wilson – was your favorite?
Serge A. Storms was my favorite, although I liked most of the characters. Mr. Dorsey is able to give you a really good snapshot of his character in a few, well-chosen words. I even liked the unlikeable ones.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
There is SO much going on in this book: the banking and insurance systems, exploitation of senior citizens, the World Series, Florida travel, the cocaine cartels, etc., etc., it would take a lot longer than I have to choose just one tag line.
Any additional comments?
I love the way Mr. Dorsey takes such diverse characters - each with their own story and scenario - and weaves and weaves and brings them all together at the end of the book in such a way that you can't imagine how they might have avoided being caught up in the action. It's really a gift and must require a LOT of work on the author's part.

Historia
She is the most popular novelist in history. Yet the drama and torment of Agatha Christie's private life remains a mystery even to her most ardent fans. She made no secret of her disdain for the press and for those who wished to intrude on her private life. In this immensely listenable and intimate biography, best-selling author Richard Hack reveals the romance, scandal, and betrayal that drove one of the 20th century's most celebrated literary figures.

Well worth the time
Revisado: 06-03-11
I must admit that I had a bit of trouble with the narrator's delivery, and when I was about 40 minutes into the book I found that I was getting used to him, so I went back to the beginning and started over, enjoying every minute from that point on.
Ms. Christie led a very interesting life, subject to the joys, heartaches and disappointments that are a part of any full life. The writer has done a remarkable job of research and compilation and you leave this book with a whole new appreciation for the great volume of consistently excellent work produced by Ms. Christie in her lifetime.
If I have made this sound dry, it is not! I chose this book in one or another of Audible's sales and it sat in my library for over a year before I listened to it - but I am SO glad I did! Recommended highly.

Dean Koontz is Back!
Revisado: 01-07-11
After a couple of disappointing offerings, Mr. Koontz has once again produced a story that is fresh, has a plot we all can follow and carries it through to the end. I give it four stars here because, in my opinion, he is generally (when on his game) a four star writer - with the notable exception of Watchers, the 5-star book that made me a lifelong Koontz fan - and that is Okay! His work is interesting, uncomplicated and fun to read. Thanks Dean!

Frantic, Funny and Farcical??
Revisado: 01-05-11
I really enjoy Gregory Maguire's work - usually. I have read and/or listened to a number of his books and have loved and recommended them whether the focus was children's or adult entertainment. I can't recommend this book to anyone. I listened all the way to the end, went back and replayed several parts, and I STILL don't know what portion of the book was intended as humor, which as satirical content and what was meant to elevate my social consciousness. The fact that the narrator sounds like a young girl may lead some to believe this is a children's book - It Is Not! The language is foul, the subject matter is sick in some spots and just plain sad in others. I have never written a reader review this negative before, but this book really deserves it. Don't waste your time and money. If you love Maguire and simply must read the book - get it from the library.
