As an amateur science reader who took chemistry in school and loves loves to cook and likes to know about the why’s of cooking, this didn’t help me much. There were suggestions of what chemical reactions did to food in practical terms but not enough for me. I wanted to know how these reactions taste, feel, what they would do in recipes. Some of this was in the book but way too little. And for a chemist or knowledgeable chemistry student I don’t think there was enough chemistry and you could get more on specific reactions easily.

Not Jack Reacher but Harry will do.

A quieter more realistic detective story and after the Reacher series what is one to do. This is a solid 3 3/4 keeps your interest with a good story and a decent intelligent detective.

It’s not like his first few

Well read but poorly recorded , volume went up and down. We listened to 20 some odd of Alexander McCall Smith’s books
really enjoyed his first two and much of the ladies number one detective agency were really really good
now this book is a little bit transparently moral and a little bit boring and not as engaging as were his books from long ago, sad to say

Well intentioned and pleasant enough, I will check out his videos which might be clearer. Pat Miller’s ‘The power of positive dog training’ though more text booky is never the less more precise and useful in explaining this humane and probably best method of dog training using successive approximation.

Informative and sound

Comprehensive look at positive reinforcement dog training. A bit like a textbook, not riveting reading but certainly interesting and feels like the right approach. Would definitely recommend it to anyone owning or becoming an owner of a dog and applicable to any other animal including humans

Not a simple detective story

Chabon writes a good story, thick, lots of descriptions on descriptions, often such inventive metaphors that you tingle. Scenarios leading to others like neurons sending chemical signals to their neighbors. Award winning and rightly so.

Didn't know anything about Anthony Bourdain when I started the book. I thoroughly enjoyed his roller coaster life ,his uniquely moral gyroscope center and the way he wrote of it. Read as I walked and I kept walking!
