A cute quick read

It was short and sweet. I loved Maximus the most. The female lead had way too many trust issues and was too hung up on her weight.

Please choose better narrators for audible books😠

The three part series was okay, I understood where the author was going with the story. Some of my issues were with the storyline of some of the characters and the way they were developed. It began to go far left as the story tried to close out some of the gaps. For instance, if the Alpha can hear the thoughts of the clan and communicate with them, why did Bradley not know what was happening with Taylor. Also, Lilly and Victor's story line felt rushed. After. all Keith had been through, he turns around and loses his mate. The story got away from itself. Now, I could ignore all of that to do finish the series, but the narrator killed it. The breathy voice, horrible accent and lackluster response between characters almost caused me not to finish it. I suffered through, because I really wanted to finish the story. However, if she is narrating other books by this author, I will not be listening to it.

Could have been great

I wanted to love it, because I love all of the other books in the series, but this simply dragged on to me. It made John seem extremely naive and gullible, which he did not appear to be when mentioned in the other series. The fact that their mate bond was so strong, yet he could not sense she did not wish to be Empress was not believable. Also why was it so difficult for him to see his Commander true nature. I understand honor, but his should have made it easier to see where his Commander's was lacking. His continual belief in his Commander almost lost him his mate, several times. I find that hard to believe, when mates come before anything. I finished it, but it was difficult too. I kept thinking, "For crying out loud is he really that clueless?"

I loved it.

The story was beautiful and wasn't focused on just sex. There was great character development and plenty of action. I can't wait to read the second book. I hope to see these characters in the next installment as well.

Daniel deserved more

I enjoyed the story, but felt as if some of the development was missing. Daniel has been through a lot and is so guarded that it seems unrealistic for him to except and fall for his mate so quickly. Skylar was fun and quirky, but I wanted to know more about her and her coven. The story felt incomplete.

Enjoying the series

I am thouroghly enjoying the series, but the audible narration sucked. The sometimes Scottish accent didn't fit with the characters, also the individual seem to have difficulty capturing the emotion of the characters throughout. I forced myself to finish listening, but I will simply get the book from now on.

I usually love Ivy Layne

First I'd like to say that every Ivy Layne book that I've read prior to this one, I loved. She has a way with creating characters and scenarios that makes it hard to put her stories down without finishing them. This story however fell flat for me. I had a hard time finishing it. The voice for the audible narration drove me nuts. The accent, tone, emotion etc. were all off. It distracted from the story. The characters and their back story was another issue. The female was so needy, clueless and self destructive that it was hard to imagine that she watched over her brother and not the other way around. Plus can we say low self-esteem. I know plenty of curvy women and they do not walk around feeling like they somehow deserve less because of their curves. It was hard to believe that a strong alpha male would find interest in someone like her. Being meek or even naive is one thing, but she was straight up clueless. She fought against his help, then cried that she didn't know what to do on her own. Uh hello, except the damn help of the man you supposedly trust because you have developed a friendship over the course of 3 years. This situation was to unrealistic and the female was hella annoying. I will continue to read Ivy's stories, because as I said before, I usually love them, but this one is a No!
