The overall message is to treat the narcissist like a troubled child. Not that the suggestions are not possibly useful, but they are overly simplistic. I like the focus on empathy toward the narcissist, and on their genuine areas in which they have deficits out of their control, however these approaches will be completely draining if not paired with empathy toward oneself as well...and this essay (it seems too short to actually be considered a book) does not focus on empathy toward oneself at all. I agree with the idea that a relationship with a narcissist may be necessary and could work out, but it is not as simple as this book makes it seem.
