This is a great novel to teach The Odyssey with. The reader is great, and the story is easy to understand. Especially great for lower level readers, but anyone can enjoy it without it seeming juvenile. Unfortunately, it is out of print often.

I finally did it. I took that last step, and it was everything I wanted. My relationship with my five mates has never been better. They've embraced not only me as a part of their lives but also my daughter, and this feels like the family I always dreamed of. I don't mean just myself and my mates, but the entire pack. They call me "Alpha". No, I'm not the alpha, but I'm learning how to step up. I got this. I'd better, since Wolf's Run has thrown open our doors to more than just wolves, but it seems like my version of winging it is working for all of us.

not what I expected
Revisado: 01-12-23
this was gifted to me as a bit of a joke bc I love werewolves. I have never read a heavy romance and it's not usually my cup of tea, but this was one of my favorite books of 2022. heartwarming, inclusive, fun, exciting. love the pack dynamic. yes, it is quite sexy, but the story on top is great. give it a try.

They hope to find the answers they seek, while making new friends, learning new concepts, and experiencing the entropic nature of the universe. Becky Chambers's new series continues to ask: in a world where people have what they want, does having more even matter?

Historia
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

a cozy hug on a rainy day of a book

beautifully written and such a gentle message. I was a bit bugged by the narrator as I could hear them come back and revise as there were obvious vocal shifts. nothing crazy and their voice is great for the characters. just something that pulled me out occasionally.

Historia
Emmy Harlow is a witch but not a very powerful one - in part because she hasn't been home to the magical town of Thistle Grove in years. Her self-imposed exile has a lot to do with a complicated family history and a desire to forge her own way in the world, and only the very tiniest bit to do with Gareth Blackmoore, heir to the most powerful magical family in town and casual breaker of hearts and destroyer of dreams.

What happened to the dog!?
Revisado: 10-28-21
This story was okay. the idea is solid, but the writing was only subpar and had me cringing at times when things became obviously contrived. but the most annoying thing was the dog. the story starts off with this adorable dog that is almost familiar in description. and then.. the dog is almost never mentioned again. like, where was this dog? just chilling with her mom?

loved this book and the narrator. not much romance between the characters which was a nice change of pace. I feel like the bend was its own character. very well written.

couldn't get past chapter 3
Revisado: 05-11-21
this is some of the most cliched writing I've ever heard. I've read good Cinderella remakes, retakes, what have you, but this isn't it. as soon as the narrator said "gag me" I was out. the female narrator was good the male was absolutely ridiculous for the character. like a droning, ultra, your highness type that just grated on my nerves.

ended up liking this book a lot. at first, the protagonist had this attitude like she was better than everyone which put me off a bit, but it wasn't a personality trait you see in the book later on. cliche ran a bit cliche and immature at times, but overall great quick listen.

In the highly anticipated finale to the New York Times best-selling trilogy, dictators, prophets, and tensions rise. In a world that’s conquered death, will humanity finally be torn asunder by the immortal beings it created? Citra and Rowan have disappeared. Endura is gone. It seems like nothing stands between Scythe Goddard and absolute dominion over the world scythedom. With the silence of the Thunderhead and the reverberations of the Great Resonance still shaking the earth to its core, the question remains: Is there anyone left who can stop him?

amazing story unsuited for small minded people
Revisado: 01-16-21
loved it. does it get political? yes. does it include diverse characters that might make small minded people a wittle bit uncomfy. yep. is that what literature is supposed to do. yes. read the UK reviews if you want real reviews.it's a DYSTOPIAN novel set in the future. of course it is political. if you are one of those people who thought Harry Potter was blasphemy, then don't read this book. stick to your Nicholas Sparks.
great series with many discussable themes. I've talked for hours about these books with several people.
