Historia
Shari Franke’s childhood was a constant battle for survival. Her mother, Ruby Franke, enforced a severe moral code while maintaining a façade of a picture-perfect family for their wildly popular YouTube channel 8 Passengers, which documented the day-to-day life of raising six children for a staggering 2.5 million subscribers. But a darker truth lurked beneath the surface—Ruby’s wholesome online persona masked a more tyrannical parenting style than anyone could have imagined.

A well written look at mental illness, cult behavior, and its consequences.
Revisado: 04-25-25
The author’s fast-moving, honest, humble, and disturbing recounting of the nightmare which was her experience while growing up and as a young adult, is very upsetting, yet also enlightening. She shows the dysfunctional patterns of abusive, manipulative people. She also educates her audience about the permanent nature of mental illnesses and the necessity of treatment and/or intervention, both for their sake and the sake of those around them. Well written.

Historia
On December 14, 2012, Robbie Parker’s daughter, Emilie, was killed at Sandy Hook Elementary in an unthinkable tragedy that changed both Robbie’s life and our country forever. By December 15, Alex Jones was live on air telling his listeners that the shooting was a hoax. So begins Parker’s David and Goliath story, a story of hope and resilience in a time defined by hatred and division. A Father's Fight is a moving testament to the power of a father’s love and perseverance in the face of insurmountable grief.

Maddening, Brave, Excellent
Revisado: 12-20-24
I was nervous to read this because of the horrific event which created the need for it. But the honesty and integrity of the book, combined with many important and personal details, yet leaving out the gruesome details was much appreciated. Unbelievable…what these families suffered. So sorry for each of you.

Historia
Greg and Lynn McDonald had never interacted with members of the LGBTQ community until they discovered their son was gay - and without resources or support, they had no idea how to handle this discovery. At first, they tried to “fix” him, to no avail. But even in the earliest days of their journey, the McDonalds clung to two absolutes: They would love God, and they would love their son. This audiobook follows the McDonald family’s journey over the next 20 years.

Somewhat helpful. The book would have been helped by discussing doctrinal issues more, even if they stayed neutral.

Freedom from demonic oppression is surprisingly simple! If you struggle with addiction, anger, fear, or other negative cycles, it could be a result of demonic influence in your life. Even Christians can be oppressed by darkness—demons who specialize in stealthy whispers and subtle control. These evil influences go undetected and unchallenged by many believers. But there is hope—and the solution is simpler than you might think! Percy Burns has been moving in deliverance as an evangelical minister for more than 47 years. In Glorious Freedom, he offers a step-by-step guide to freedom from ...

The spirit of humility of the author was very helpful
Revisado: 07-27-24
On a topic which is largely ignored by evangelicalism, the author speaks with authority, humility, and personal experience. It is difficult to be skeptical of such a ministry in light of such scholarship and true-life examples. I also listened to to 2-hour video panel discussion on the website of GCTS in which Percy Burns was one of the panel participants. It was excellent.

Historia
Small acts of courage matter. Sometimes, they change the world. Our history books are filled with the stories of those who fought for democracy and freedom—for idealism itself—against all odds, from Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela to Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. These iconic struggles for social change illustrate the importance of engagement and activism, and offer a template for the battles we are fighting today. But using the right words is often easier than taking action; action can be hard, and costly.

Historia
American evangelical Christianity has lost its way. While the witness of the church before a watching world is diminished beyond recognition, congregations are torn apart over Donald Trump, Christian nationalism, racial injustice, sexual predation, disgraced leaders, and covered-up scandals. Left behind are millions of believers who counted on the church to be a place of belonging and hope. As greater and greater numbers of younger Americans bleed out from the church, even the most rooted evangelicals are wondering, “Can American Christianity survive?”

It was so refreshing to read someone else’s explanation of a problem I have seen, been a part of, experienced, and been liberated from myself. Every evangelical Christian needs to read this book. Period.

Interesting
Revisado: 02-07-24
Interesting. I liked getting a different perspective on the “clobber” passages and ways to translate/interpret from the Hebrew and Greek. I still feel as though there is no way of really knowing which side is right. I wasn’t crazy about the audio reader’s tone of voice which seemed combative at times. Overall, I will still recommend it.
