Historia
Long-distance motorcycling is not a pastime but an obsession. In this candid, eloquent, sharply observed book, Melissa Holbrook Pierson introduces us to this strange endeavor and the men and women who live to ride impossibly long distances, eating up road, almost without cease. And who find it nothing but fun.

For motorcyclists
Revisado: 02-11-25
Excellent writing by Holbrook Pierson as she vividly captures the motorcycling experience. She puts into words what motorcyclists implicitly know about riding but may find challenging to explain. Story revolves around long-distance riding but delves deep into the philosophy and preternatural world of riding and pushing the limits of being human. While I liked the voice of the narrator, it seems clear that she is not very familiar with motorcycles and does not speak the language of motorcycles. I found the pronunciations tortuous at times, making me wince. But, bless her little heart, she tried her best.

Great Star Trek story
Revisado: 10-10-24
Enjoyable storyline with the original series cast. Nice performance by Robert Petkoff. This novel does a great job of weaving several Star Trek adventures together. My only gripe is that it seems to have been written for young adults. That may have been intentional, but I find much of the dialogue to be very sophomoric.

Interesting story that moves really fast. Excellent character development. Reading and characterization by Porter is superb. If you like military action and sci-fi inter-dimensional or time travel, you’ll enjoy this book. I have to see if there’s a follow up book making this a series!

Captivating
Revisado: 03-25-24
I absolutely love stories of time travel and I highly recommend this title. This is perhaps the best novel I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. The characters are so well developed, the storyline is captivating and moves briskly. The “science” is fascinating and well-described without being over-burdensome. Many twists and turns! The story stirred some heartfelt emotions. Listening will transport you and when you come out of it, you may amazed at how much Time has passed. EXCELLENT choice of narrator as well.

Historia
For the first time, the great depth and diversity of Taoist spirituality is introduced in a single, accessible manual. Taoism, known widely today through the teachings of the classic Tao Te Ching and the practices of t'ai chi and feng-shui, is less known for its unique traditions of meditation, physical training, magical practice, and internal alchemy. Covering all of the most important texts, figures, and events, this essential guide illuminates Taoism's extraordinarily rich history and remarkable variety of practice.

Tao History
Revisado: 03-19-24
This is a text on the history of Taoism. 90-percent of this book recounts the beginnings and evolution of Taoism, its founders and its transition from philosophy to religion. The narrator is quite good but if you are looking for a book on the teachings and lessons for life, this is not it.

Revisado: 01-06-24
An outstanding work, by Michael Crichton. Once again, he puts humans in sci-fi situations and examines, with great introspection, how we might handle, or mishandle, the situation. This story moves very quickly. The narration is superb. I highly recommend for lovers of science fiction.

At first, it looks like a disease. An epidemic that spreads through no known means, driving its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived. But the force that’s sweeping the world is no pathogen. It’s just the first shock wave, unleashed by a stunning discovery - and what’s in jeopardy is not our minds but the very fabric of time itself. In New York City, Detective Barry Sutton is closing in on the truth - and in a remote laboratory, neuroscientist Helena Smith is unaware that she alone holds the key to this mystery...and the tools for fighting back.

Makes ya think!
Revisado: 12-16-23
Excellent storyline. Entertaining and thought provoking. Poses questions of the morality of possessing enormous power afforded by scientific and technological advances. Also gives you a re-think as to the nature of deja-vu, dreams, memories, the concept of time and time travel. Many parts brought to mind the movie Edge of Tomorrow.
See what happens when Space-age technology is coupled with neanderthal emotions.

Didn’t hate it, but it was just OK. I was sufficiently entertained. Actually, I purchased this book because of Andy Weir’s praise for it. It doesn’t hold a candle to Weir’s work. Perhaps I expected too much.

Very entertaining
Revisado: 10-13-23
I am very pleased with this sci-fi novel. The characters were well developed and done so quickly. The premise was good and the story moved right along. Just enough details of events and things, like technology, were given and not belabored so they didn’t detract from the story.
At first I thought events and people were predictable, but they did not go the way I predicted which was a great relief.
Ray Porter is one of the best in the business and one of my faves.
I will be listening to the next book in this series. Am looking forward to how things work out!

The book was slow to get interesting. Sometimes a lot of words but nothing really relevant to the story was said. Ended was flat and disappointing. Fortunately this was a freebie from Audible. Not listening to this one again.
Positive comment: The narrator was pretty good.
