Don't read this one, Let Gary tell you the story!

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 03-23-10

This is a book to listen to rather than read. As Gary admits in the book, he is not a writer. He "wrote" this book by recording it and having a ghost writer write it out. His character and passion come out beautifully in the audio version. Additionally, he has numerous riffs where he expands or updates what he wrote.

I am not looking to Crush It, but I do want to increase my impact in this world. Gary has motivated me to work harder and to push the envelope more.

Great Narration, but a slow start

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-16-09

I read the first two books in the series (no, you can't skip them) and was nervous about listening to the third based on the bad reviews for the other narrator for Book Two. However, Allan Corduner does a great job. The book starts off slow and really picks up after the first few hours.

Good abridgement

5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 12-02-08

I rarely listen to abridged books, but took a chance on this one. Our book club was reading it and I didn't have time to listen to the whole book. I found that I enjoyed it more than many who had read the whole book and complained of its length. I am sure that die hard Atlas Shrugged fans would cringe at the thought of cutting out any of the long commentaries, but I found this version to be a very accessible way to hear the Ayn Rand philosophy.

Tribes Audiolibro Por Seth Godin arte de portada

One of Seth's Best Books

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 12-02-08

I have been a fan of Seth's since I stumbled upon his great little book "How to give really bad PowerPoint presentations." I would put Tribes right up there with "All Marketers are Liars" and "Purple Cow." The book is about leadership, but it is not written for leaders. The book is written for people like me that want to take on new leadership challenges, both within outside of work, but have hesitated on breaking free. I would strongly urge anyone who wants to make their life or their world a better place to listen to this book. Seth has a fun voice which makes the audio version even more special.

great advice, bad audio

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Yes, the audio quality is terrible. Peter Drucker is perhaps the best authority on leadership, especially for non-profits. This books is not an abridgement of his classic work on non-profits, but a series of interviews that he gave on topics covered in his book. The interviews are facinating and full of wonderful information. It is a shame the audio quality is so poor.

Excellent, simple insights into change

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 02-28-07

Marshall Goldsmith is an engaging, facinating speaker and his personality shows through nicely in this audiobook. His technique of picking one bad habit to change and following up month after month is very effective. I am using his techniques in my life and in my office and am very happy with the results.

abridged, but better than nothing

I don't know how much is lost in abridging the book, but it sure does jump around a lot. As others have said, this book will back up your preconceived notions of Bush. Either he is a decisive leader who pushes the country forward or a goof-ball who never saw a fact that he couldn't ignore. Either way you will find this book to be quite educationational. I just wish we could hear the whole book.

fun story, but second in series

I am a bit confused as to why this book is available as an audio book, but not the first in the series. If you have read the first, you will enjoy this one. However, I would not suggest buying it if you have not already read the first one.

Crusade Audiolibro Por Rick Atkinson arte de portada

Great first half of the printed book

Total
3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 03-10-03

This is a very balanced and complete account of the first half of the Gulf War (Gulf War I?) and definitely worth hearing. My only complaint is that the audio book only covers the first half of the printed book. Contrary to what is stated in the summary, this volume only includes the air campaign. The rest of the war is covered in Volume 2. I don't know why the audio book was split in half. I would have given the book five stars if it had been complete. Instead, I rounded 2 1/2 stars up to 3.

An incredible book, beautifully performed

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Into Thin Air is the dramatic retelling of the Mount Everest disaster as told by an Outside Magazine writer that was on the expedition. I am normally not fond of author's reading their own books--this seems to be a job better left to professional readers. In this case, having the author read the book adds extra weight to the tragidy of the story. I've been an Audible subscriber for two years and this has been my favorite book so far.
