Historia
Glucose, or blood sugar, is a tiny molecule in our body that has a huge impact on our health. It enters our bloodstream through the starchy or sweet foods we eat. Ninety percent of us suffer from too much glucose in our system—and most of us don’t know it. The symptoms? Cravings, fatigue, infertility, hormonal issues, acne, wrinkles. Drawing on cutting-edge science and her own pioneering research, biochemist Jessie Inchauspé offers ten simple, surprising hacks to help you balance your glucose levels and reverse your symptoms—without going on a diet or giving up the foods you love.

Historia
What do you do when, just before Thanksgiving at your mother's, your 14-year-old son asks you to iron the dress he recently purchased and plans to wear? Listeners learn the answer and much more in this wonderfully frank, loving, and practical account of parenting a transgender teen. Hassouri chronicles what amounts to a dual transition: as her child transitions from male to female, she navigates through anger, denial, and grief to eventual acceptance. Despite her experience advising other parents in her work as a pediatrician, she was blindsided by her child's gender identity.

I hate to loose, I love to win, I want to beat them all. I am perfect. I got toll by hanging myself on a stick and because of my will and desire to be tall (no supplements!!). I have rivalry with Serena Williams (not really, lady, she leads 19-2 and has made over $80 million in prize money versus $36 million for you. That isn't a rivalry!!!)
This person said not even one word about helping anyone in anyway...

Book is amazing. Narrator drove me crazy. Couldn't finish the book.
Revisado: 07-28-17
The book is great. The narrator has a heavy British accent and it acts as thou is doing a play... therefore the book is 21 hours long and for me was very hard to fallow.
Also, chapters end in the middle of a regular audible chapter. Hard to follow the structure and to go back to spots because of that.

Revisado: 06-14-17
Would you listen to Americanah again? Why?
Yes, especially certain parts of it. I would listen to it again and if I have my way, I would love to teach a class on white privilege and have my students read the passages I have selected that explain race in the US, or just have them read the whole book. This book seems perfect to hopefully engage the minds of people that would otherwise not listen.
What did you like best about this story?
Its great to hear an outsider explain race relations in the US. And not just any outsider, but a black person coming from another country.
