A wonderful disaster queer, witchy YA read with prose that begs to live inside your brain for months on end.
The follow up to the delightful “The Scapegracers,” “The Scratch Daughters” takes everything that was perfect about the first novel and brings even more horribly lovely things to the table.

The narrator’s performance is superb at bringing this witchcraft laden, queer found family themed fast paced thriller amalgamation to perfectly imperfect life.

The VAs really make this story shine. There are a few editing mistakes where both the first and second take are left in, but they're not disruptive.

These were not always stories where something happened but always stories first and foremost about people, and, especially if you're from the Rio Grande Valley, about people you know. The short storiea were very much from the Valley, with their references and the way they showed how the Valley truly is, with all its flaws that may not be apparent if they don't affect you. But, they also showed good things about the people who live there; the reasons why the Valley stays with you no matter how long you've been away.

I was born with low vision, and am also slowly going blind. I'm in my 20s now and have lost most of my useful vision. I used to desperately look for representation of myself and could never find it. This book is one I wish I had as a teenager and one I desperately needed now. It was cathartic, made me feel seen, and I felt like sometimes we had the same blind girl moments in life. I am so grateful for this book. Thank you Molly Burke and Audible!
