Historia
A shape-shifting trickster on a quest for eternal life, Monkey King is one of the most memorable superheroes in world literature. High-spirited and omni-talented, he amasses dazzling weapons and skills on his journey to immortality: a gold-hooped staff that can grow as tall as the sky and shrink to the size of a needle; the ability to travel 108,000 miles in a single somersault. A master of subterfuge, he can transform himself into whomever or whatever he chooses and turn each of his body's 84,000 hairs into an army of clones.

The Great Sage
Revisado: 09-17-24
I only knew about Monkey from bits and pieces I’ve read online. I never went all in because there are so many versions with different translations.
This version is more of a summary of the actual book that skips a lot of the contact from what I can tell. In a way, it is better this way since you don’t need the full story to follow what is happening. However, I wish there was a version where the entire book is translated since I read a few things online that do not show up in this.
As far as the book goes, the narration is great and well performed. The story is funny and engaging. Monkey really is a superhero before superheroes were a thing. The many abilities that he has and the adventures with their companions all feel as if they were written recently and not in ancient times. Following monkey mature from the mischievous personality of Monkey King to becoming the Victorious Fighting Buddha was a joy, and one I recommend others to follow.

Historia
In 2056, the world's most powerful AI System, ARKUS, comes online. Created to extend human lifespans, it quickly makes world-changing discoveries in health science. It also develops an advanced VR headset...to let users experience time faster in virtual worlds.... Two years later, ARKUS releases World-Tree Online. The game's time-dilation makes...one hour of playtime feel like one month, allowing humans to virtually extend their lifespans. After an old gamer named Vincent joins the game an update begins that stretches the time-dilation to one year for every five seconds.

Pretty good
Revisado: 07-03-23
I was skeptical due to some negative reviews, but I decided to jump in because it sounded like a cool story. The characters showed real struggle and progress instead of simply gaining easy abilities. The bad guy was well thought out with a slight sympathy towards him once it was over but not enough that you can forgive him or let him escape with no consequences. First audiobook of this length I finish in 3 days.

Good stuff
Revisado: 06-07-23
I was holding off on listening to this because the story didn’t sound all that interesting, plus I am not a fan of characters who can enchant things. I was pleasingly surprised that I gave it a shot. The story was simply and the details given helped put together what the place looks like. The performance is top notch. There wasn’t a lot of comedy, but what was there was nicely executed. It had the right amount of sexy stuff added in; not too much and not too little.

Historia
Have you ever felt like there was something inside of you pushing your actions? A dormant beast, so to speak. I know it sounds crazy. But, that’s the best way I could describe how I’ve felt for a long time. I thought it was normal, some animal part of the human brain that lingered from evolution. But, this is the story of how I learned I wasn’t exactly human, and there was a world underneath our own where all the things that go bump in the night live. And, that my beast was very real indeed.

Entertaining
Revisado: 02-01-23
Character interactions is big in this book. I am fairly new to western light novel type of stories. The pacing was good and it feels more relatable. The performances also add to character development. The way they use magic is easy to understand so the author can focus more on everything else.
Having said that, the MC seems to be a pushover at times, and the “rules” in place by this underworld organization seem kind of loose; it’s as if the author is still unsure what to do with them and thought they re cool. I understand there are more books out now, but this was my view from just the first one.

I enjoyed the story and the performance. It feels a bit rushed. The characters were likable but needed more development. Otherwise, this is a very entertaining story and strong performance by the casting team.

Revisado: 11-26-21
I am a sci-fi and horror fan. I am not much for drama or romance, but I like breaking out of my comfort zone from time to time. This was a nice break that had great characters and performances. The main characters resemble real people with real problems; that is what makes them relatable. I recommend this for anyone wanting to get into the Christmas spirit.

This is so stupid, it’s actually good. This so nonsensical I can laugh at the character interactions with such a simple story. I applaud the creativity of the team and the performances.

A great classic fit with a modern vive
Revisado: 11-14-21
This was a great book and read wonderfully by the narrator. I sometimes get put off from reading books after watching a movie based on it even more so if they are classics. I am glad I found the chance to experience this book. It is a far cry from the Tom Cruz movie. The main character is very relatable unlike the movie one.

Revisado: 09-05-21
I liked this new entry and also continuation to the drama series. I am a big Alien fan and the pacing and introduction of the creatures was superb. The acting and the sound design kept me intrigued. I would have preferred more character development. Overall a strong entry and will look forward to future projects.
