Historia
Captain Martin Hawk and his crew arrive in Alexandria, Egypt, on the clipper ship Yankee Spirit. With their mysterious guide, Ini-Herit, they embark on a journey to the famed Valley of the Kings. There, Hawk encounters Professor Donald Curtis who has made an incredible discovery - the tomb of Prince Erihppas. Up until now he was believed to be only legend. Within the tomb the professor has found a large Sphinx, made entirely of solid gold. It becomes the task of Captain Hawk to transport the Sphinx to a museum in England.

True Radio Drama

What did you love best about Yankee Clipper and the Adventure of the Golden Sphinx?
The audio dramatically recreates the feel of sailing a ship in that era.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I felt that the ending was drawn out a trifle too long - too much to and fro between the hero and villain. It could certainly have been a couple of episodes shorter. It was also very male dominated - there was one female character, who went the very predictable way of most pulp female characters.

Historia
He had nothing to recommend him but his smile, and she was surely too old, and had too much commonsense, to be beguiled by a smile... Miss Abigail Wendover's efforts to detach her spirited niece Fanny from a plausible fortune-hunter are complicated by the arrival in Bath of Miles Caverleigh. The black sheep of his family, a cynical, outrageous care-for-naught with a scandalous past - that would be a connection more shocking even than Fanny's unwise liaison with his nephew!

Would you listen to Tom Corbett Space Cadet again? Why?
I would listen to it again - the soundscape and detail were very good.
Any additional comments?

Where does Jarrem Lee - Ghost Hunter - The Tollington Hall Case, The Ancient Burial Barrow, Lord Wentworth's Statue and Professor Taylor's Final Experiment rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I highly enjoyed the dramatic retelling in the old radio play style.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Jarrem Lee - Ghost Hunter - The Tollington Hall Case, The Ancient Burial Barrow, Lord Wentworth's Statue and Professor Taylor's Final Experiment?
The chilling moments as the investigators realised the truth about Lord Wentworth's infatuation with his new acquisition.
Did Jerry Robbins and The Colonial Radio Players do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes, it was excellent. The character acting and writing easily rendered each character distinguishable from the rest.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen to this in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
The performances were largely good, very professional - but the lead male playing the young chemist sidekick of Jarrem Lee was a let down. A highly mobile accent and awkward delivery detracted from the overall high quality of the performance. I will still be looking out for more of these shows, but I sincerely hope that experience improves his performance.

Historia
Resourceful, adventurous and utterly indefatigable, Sophy is hardly the mild-mannered girl that the Rivenhalls expect when they agree to take her in. Kind-hearted Aunt Lizzy is shocked; stern Cousin Charles and his humourless fiancée Eugenia are disapproving. With her inimitable mixture of exuberance and grace Sophy soon sets about endearing herself to her family, but finds herself increasingly drawn to her cousin. Can she really be falling in love with him, and he with her? And what of his betrothal to Eugenia?

Great characterisations, good work on abridging.
Revisado: 12-06-12
If you could sum up The Grand Sophy in three words, what would they be?
Light-hearted period romance.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Sophy as ever, is by far my favourite character. I've always enjoyed Heyer's charming, reckless and strong minded heroine. Clare Wille's rendition of her lines won me to Sophy's way of seeing thing just as Sophy won her way against other characters in the book, so I felt it was an excellent character portrayl.
