Actually a really good slice of lice book. Worth the purchase with economic and fantasy element but the focus is the idiot main character that you just have to love. With great voice acting to tie it together I’m listening to every book in the series!

I’m honestly certain now that both of these VAs can make any book a hit but this time they were just the cherry on top. I wouldn’t say that this book was perfect but it’s up there. The MC is a believable character that makes you curious on how she will if not for her stats, then arguably more for the way she interacts with the world and becomes better overtime. Likable characters around her and situations that showcase her abilities without making her seem like a nuke on legs.

This book focuses more on characters, systems and world building over straight storytelling with overarching plot, at the same time it doesn’t feel like we’re missing anything because of the journey the MC is on.

Pretty good listen, the beginning of the book still shared some of the problems with the first installment but overall it was a good listen. A fairly linear and somewhat predictable story with an op protagonist that can’t be bothered to think past what she’s going to eat. Placed in an insane world where people threatening each other is commonplace. This just so happens to be the perfect world for the MC as she terrorizes anyone in her way because of her long past parent issues.
(Spoiler) However she does at least grow somewhat of a conscience near the end. I genuinely can’t tell you if it’s great or bad writing that allowed me to yell “WHY” at the MCs choices throughout both books. There’s emotionally unstable and then there’s “if I have no brain then I can’t feet”. The main draw to the book is still the world and the systems.

Despite all that I still think it was a good listen because I asked “why tho” less than in the first book, also there are some nice plot payoffs. Still don’t like the VAs low voice when voicing some characters.

because he doesn’t spout annoying ideals as if just by saying them makes them fact. Also his powers (while overwhelming in some respect) is offset by his personality to match his opponents in strength when he can and break his limits when he cant.
Another great book in the series, all things come to an end but I have to say I miss when he still had animosity towards the world and the goddess.
While not a bad thing, the series evolved from revenge story, the search for companionship, power and purpose. Now it’s still some of that but mostly a slice of life in a fantasy world on the brink of destruction. Still a great listen but those are my thoughts!

More of the same great stuff filled with interesting characters, funny moments, action and more! One problem (possibly born from bias of the books I’ve been reading lately) is that the overwhelming constant victories because simply nothing short of the devil himself (if that) can stand against the heroes. It can get old sometimes if you value a character encountering strife, losing and making something out of it even if that something doesn’t necessarily feel like a win. I love the wins they did have but the shift in mentality from “can/will they overcome this” to “I just wonder how funny the win will be” is a large one!

Great story overall and ability to set meaningful foundations for future stories. It could have just been my mood while listening but the first 30 or so chapters while foundational and important felt like a drag somewhat. If you care about the story and want full context it’s still a great listen even early on but it’s more slice of life until things start to really get interesting.

I feel like this book had everything I wanted and more. Litrpg aspects, civilization building, politics and meaningful fights. Also the opportunity to see scenarios that ask great questions if you want. If you read the first two books you will not be disappointed, it’s an upgrade to an already awesome series.

I really liked this book and it really scratches that litrpg itch. Unique main character with a race that isn’t used as often as I would like, also the book depicts her truly embodying her characters slowly but surely.

I have a slight bias because I love how fluid and somewhat realistic she is in her situation, at the same time I hate when people get into bad situations even though they had all the tools to not be there.

(Spoiler) For Example, she has the ability to both see the hue of people’s souls and basically has an appraisal skill but gets caught lacking in the end. On one hand you might expect her to show more caution in a new dangerous world but on the other when someone with new trauma find safety they may dive into it completely, throwing away caution to not think about it. Like living in a dangerous area but finding relative safety in your house, you may have to push the danger away to stay sane.

I both loved and hated this but that’s the beauty of well written characters. Wrote too much but I truly want to listen to the next book.
