Enthralling

I loved Isolde and Adrian. Their story was a wonderful surprise. The world built by Scarlett St. Claire was beautifully described. I could visualize the villages and smells. The narrators did an excellent job with expression and inflection. Can’t wait for Queen of Myth and Monsters.

The Ivy House Crew is Back

I can’t get enough of Jacinta’s adventures through the world of magic. She navigates her new life as the Ivy House heir with witty sarcasm, great empathy, and hilarious pep talks. Edgar, Niamh, and Mr. Tom continue to try to guide her in their crazy ways. And they get some back up from several gargoyles that respond to Jacinta’s summons. Last, but definitely not least, the dynamics with Austin Steele are taken up a notch. He is swoon worthy! Jessie is way more strong willed than me. I don’t know why she keeps holding out though. K.F. Breene continues to deliver great characters and stories. Cannot wait for book 3- Magical Midlife Invasion!

It was great to pick back up with Rachel and gang. It is never a dull moment. A new threat from an old magic brings new people into her life that cause tension with her current alliances. And it is interesting to see the new roles everyone plays in her changing life, especially Trent. I love the interaction with Trent. He has become stronger and more comfortable in himself with Rachel’s support. I can’t wait to see what trial Kim Harrison has in store for Rachel, Trent, Jenks, and the rest of the crew next!

Awesome Introduction to a Great New Series!

I love the Adept Series by Meghan Ciana Doidge! The Amplifier is no exception. Emma’s story is full of excitement, humor, sexual tension and even sadness. She sees herself as incapable of forging relationships because of the harsh and distant way she was created and used. But she repeatedly shows her ability to care for others by protecting them. Christopher (her “brother”), Paisley the dog, Jenni the RMPC officer, the townspeople, and even a sorcerer, Aiden, that she just met. Tia Rider expertly conveys all of the complicated emotions churning around Emma as well as all the other characters. Her narration will be the voice of Emma for me as I read the other Amplifier books. This is a perfect series for any adults that like magic, mayhem and a bit of romance.
