Historia
Galen of Pergamum (A.D. 129-ca. 216) began his remarkable career tending to wounded gladiators in provincial Asia Minor. Later in life he achieved great distinction as one of a small circle of court physicians to the family of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, at the very heart of Roman society. Susan Mattern's The Prince of Medicine offers the first authoritative biography in English of this brilliant, audacious, and profoundly influential figure.

Enjoyable and excellent
Revisado: 03-10-23
I enjoyed this thoroughly. I don't have much knowledge of Greek or Roman history and it's difficult to find books that don't either presume some college level reference from the reader, or that won't try to beat it into the reader. There was just one or two chapters that entertained academic familiarity, but not enough to lose the reader, nor the point. This was a very good purchase, as I'll be listening to it for both entertainment and academic enlightenment.

Historia
First came the news that a flying saucer had landed in Iowa. Then came the announcement that the whole thing was a hoax. End of story. Case closed. Except that two agents of the most secret intelligence agency in the US government were on the scene and disappeared without reporting in. And four more agents who were sent in also disappeared. So the head of the agency and his two top agents went in and managed to get out with their discovery

Seventy year prophesy
Revisado: 12-07-22
Pinchot was really just so mediocre in this. Sci-fi is not documentary, and should not be read as such. Plus, Heinlein is already fairly stiff in presentation. About halfway through I put the story speed on 1.35, then before it finished, 1.75 just to get some flair. Aside from the reading itself, was this just a manuscript for 2020.

Historia
Eve looks like an ordinary 12-year-old girl, but there’s nothing ordinary about her. She has no last name. No parents or guardian. She’s on the run from a dangerous and secretive organization that will stop at nothing to track her down. And most astonishing of all: she’s a robot, a product of Eden Laboratories. When Eve discovers the truth, she realizes everything she thought she knew about herself is a lie. Eve manages to escape, fleeing the lab, the only home she’s ever known.

Heavy themes, light concerns
Revisado: 12-06-22
Enjoyable fantasy. Not too dry or too technical. Not too involved, but still plenty of intrigue. I definitely enjoyed the main, interview perspective. It added the right amount of depth to a light setting and plot. My only main complaint is that I had to constantly adjust the volume, downward l, for two characters, though. I also think a lot of books the days are not written to plot, rather seems that they are definitely written to psychologically and/or socially trigger. ("Themes" spoiler:) For example, seriously incurs these following terms of isolation, grieving, morbidity, obsession. I have to admit that honestly, it was a tad much (for my own taste) to have put all in just one "washing".

Interview of avoidance
Revisado: 11-29-22
Ethically weird. Technically elite. Transformatively transient. I think the interviewee avoided all the questions except perhaps to say, it isn't going to be private industry (aka fb, Amazon) profit point, but is somehow, still democratic. ?

Very engaging. I like that it had different readers. They were all excellent. This book is a great introduction to Greek mythology.

Historia
Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

It's pretty great, for so many reasons!!
Revisado: 01-26-20
Wow! So I've been doing everything backwards! I'm so glad Marie spent so many years learning and gleaning from magazine articles the techniques and lack of prioritizing, appreciating, etc that has led so many of us astray! I did not do that, was too busy but probably too poor also, but certainly had so much of it forced on me through cultural everything, mostly commercials, via prime time television. There are many articles online explaining the zealot aspects of this book, so I do recommend reading those reviews before skimming/listening, (and I only recommend skimming or listening). Google Marie Kondo and Shinto practice and there are several articles and reviews. But really though, just listening to her (is it Marie doing the narration? I hope so!) It was like getting a free consultation, and I definitely learned a lot of precise events, etc., where I have been led astray in storage tactic technique. I feel like the information from this book will help put me right back on track exactly where commercialism, sentimentalism, escapism, etc., et al., has led so many of us all astray. And really the only reason for giving this four stars and not five is the main reason that NO I will not be talking to my things, creating any kinds of shrines, raising personal or material vibrations, or gathering any more new superstitions!! I am definitely glad I got the audio. There is just no way I would have patience to read the paper, or sit down for an episode or season! However, I really, really do want to thank Marie for bringing all of that feng shwayey peripheral (back) to my personal attention so I can choose to follow more of my own non-superstitious practices in a much more minimalistic, appreciative (but still very conventional) joyful way!

In this collection of 16 short stories, Peter often visits Grandfather Frog to learn more about his neighbors. For instance, Peter wants to know why Striped Chipmunk has such beautiful stripes. Peter would like to know if Buster Bear has a tail. Since Grandfather Frog has lived a long time, he is willing to tell stories to Peter and his friends about how some of these things happened (according to Grandfather Frog).
