Historia
Nate Beckett has spent his life fighting wildfires instead of the lies and rumors that drove him from his Colorado hometown. His mother begs him to come back now that his father has been released from prison, but it isn’t until he’s sidelined by an injury that he’s forced to return and face his past. But that means facing Brenna, too. Fourteen years ago, Nate was in love with the preacher’s daughter. When Pastor Strickland discovered Brenna defied him to sneak out with Nate, the fight between Strickland and Nate’s drunken dad was loud - and very public.

Inspiring!
Revisado: 02-10-23
A beautifully written story about bringing beauty from ashes! I love Blackstock’s writing, and this was perhaps one of the best! It IS possible to find an enthralling story without gore, descriptive violence, vulgar language or graphic sex.

Fascinating story!
Revisado: 01-30-23
As library lover, I found this story truly fascinating! I loved picturing the antique books and the vastness of the New York Library, especially in the early 1900’s. The characters were believable and easy to engage with, until the historical figure took a bit of a twist. I don’t know the historical accuracy, and I’m not “judging” as many like to say, I’m just saying I couldn’t relate as well. I could have done without the detailed description of their love life, but that’s just a personal opinion. The storyline was rich, the characters were well developed, and the slight surprises near the end were enough to keep my interest piqued throughout.

Historia
In 1860 the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow family celebrated Christmas at Craigie House, their home in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The publication of Longfellow's classic Revolutionary War poem, "Paul Revere's Ride", was less than a month hence, and the country's grave political unrest weighed heavily on his mind. Yet with his beloved wife, Fanny, and their five adored children at his side, the delights of the season prevailed.

Rich in history
Revisado: 01-02-23
Not my favorite by this author, but definitely full of civil war history. She does her research on the era…I listened to the book in its entirety, but was pretty bored by the long explanations of the war. It was also quite repetitive as she repeated the same situations from multiple people’s points of view. All in all, not a favorite.

Fun holiday read
Revisado: 12-27-22
I have loved all of the Elm Creek Quilts stories, and this was no different! There was a lot of review and back story on the characters and their history, which was fine for me, as the refresher was helpful. I imagine it could’ve been a bit dull or tedious had I read this one immediately after the other books, though. I enjoyed visualizing the manor all decked out for Christmas, and the ideas for festive quilts!

It’s been almost two years since Effie’s beloved parents got divorced, destroying the image of the happy, loving childhood she thought she had. Since then, she’s become estranged from her father and embarked on a feud with his hot (and much younger) girlfriend, Krista. And now, more earth-shattering news: They’ve sold Greenoaks, the rambling Victorian country house Effie has always called home.

Ten years ago, Abigail Lovett fell into a job she loves, managing The Passage Inn, a cozy, upscale resort nestled in the North Carolina mountain town of Cutter’s Pass. Cutter’s Pass is best known for its outdoor offerings—rafting and hiking, with access to the Appalachian trail by way of a gorgeous waterfall—and its mysterious history. As the book begins, the string of unsolved disappearances that has haunted the town is once again thrust into the spotlight when journalist Landon West, who was staying at the inn to investigate the story of the vanishing trail, then disappears himself.

Historia
Josie Bianci was killed years ago on a train during a terrorist attack. Gone forever. It’s what her sister, Kit, an ER doctor in Santa Cruz, has always believed. Yet all it takes is a few heart-wrenching seconds to upend Kit’s world. Live coverage of a club fire in Auckland has captured the image of a woman stumbling through the smoke and debris. Her resemblance to Josie is unbelievable. And unmistakable. With it comes a flood of emotions - grief, loss, and anger - that Kit finally has a chance to put to rest: by finding the sister who’s been living a lie.

Heartwarming!
Revisado: 07-14-22
Truly a wonderfully heartwarming story! The buildup of characters was clear and intriguing, and enabled the perfect amount of emotional investment in the characters. I appreciated the differentiation between the 2 main characters voices on audible; made it easy to follow. I could have done without some of the concise descriptions of the love scenes, but they were easy to skip through on audible.
Overall, I’m very glad I “read” this and definitely recommend it to friends that enjoy some chick-lit with a good bit of substance!

Wonderful historical fiction!
Revisado: 10-11-21
As I work my way through the Elm Creek Quilts series, this is my favorite one so far! I absolutely loved the history included, and the strong ties to the characters ancestors. It makes me wish I had more ties to my own family of the past…perhaps one day I will find the time and motivation to do some research! If only we could all be so blessed to find treasures such as journals and quilts hidden in our attics!:)
