Historia
Over the course of a 30-year career, Eddie Izzard has proven himself to be a creative chameleon, inhabiting the stage and film and television screens with an unbelievable fervor. Born in Yemen and raised in Ireland, Wales, and postwar England, he lost his mother at the age of six. In his teens he dropped out of university and took to the streets of London as part of a two-man escape act; when his partner went on vacation, Izzard kept busy by inventing a one-man act, and thus a career was ignited.

Love his standup
Revisado: 12-20-17
But I only managed a few minutes, became aggravated & packed it in.
There is only just so much genuine nonsense I can take.
Nonsense & funny is one thing, nonsense that puts my teeth on edge is another.
Sorry Eddie. I know you can act & do standup & probably do great audiobooks, but it just wasn’t where my head was when this one did my head in.

Just don’t do it.
She sounds unhinged
I really tried, but it isn’t worth it to whiteknuckle through the spacey delivery

Weird delivery
Revisado: 12-16-17
These books were recommended by someone I respected
They featured a detached, weird delivery with disturbed giggling.
I tried, but it is creepy and hard to respect or listen someone who sounded off her rocker and purporting to know it all.
Had to reevaluate the person who recommended these audiobooks!

Historia
New York Times best-selling author, comedian, and actor Patton Oswalt shares his entertaining memoir about coming of age as a performer and writer in the late '90s while obsessively watching classic films at the legendary New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles. Between 1995 and 1999, Patton Oswalt lived with an unshakeable addiction. It wasn't drugs, alcohol, or sex. It was film.

Historia
Queen Victoria's Book of Spells is an anthology for everyone who loves works of neo-Victorian fiction and wishes to explore the wide variety of ways that modern fantasists are using nineteenth-century settings, characters, and themes. These approaches stretch from steampunk fiction to the Austen-and-Trollope inspired works that some critics call "fantasy of manners", all of which fit under the larger umbrella of gaslamp fantasy.

I was okay for the sample
Revisado: 07-02-15
...but about 15 minutes into the first story about Victoria's Book of Spells, I couldn't take the combination of smug, plummy-toned dramatization (combined with the author's patently obvious dislike & chip on her shoulder the first writer has for nonUSians, specifically British culture.) seemed okay for a few minutes. But it went on & on...! How someone with such US national exceptionalism writes a short story with Queen Victoria as a vehicle is bewildering. What was her motivation? ...to snark?
I just couldn't enjoy it. I was relaxing in the tub & it went from odd, to confusing to so aggravating that I had to get out, towel off, blow out the candles & do laundry.
Suffice to say, the self-satisfied notes in the performer's chosen style carried the same impression into the subsequent readings.
I'm sure it was just the combination of the first story with the first writing style. Maybe if they hadn't occurred together? Maybe they resonated off each other?
I tried to get into the other ones, but gave up, as it all blended together into one nails-on-a-chalkboard experience.
I really wanted to like this, but I'm not about to try as hard as I did for simple fantasy fiction.
Not for me. I wish I could return it, even for a partial credit.

Historia
Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

I don't worry about the 'feelings' or 'emotions' of clothes... nor do I expect to
Revisado: 07-02-15
I've never 'gasped & been speechless' about socks
A good 1/4 of this book is about an anxious little girl who grew up obsessed with her possessions & her Family being messier than she could handle.
There are eye roll moments about the emotions of clothes that 'need to rest' & such
Then there is the occasional catty moments about presumed former lists & generalizations about their Lives & needs after they used her services.
There are a couple if good ideas, but it shouldn't have taken 4 hours.
Seriously? This was a bulletpoint blog post that was padded with things that just made me irritated.
I ended up putting it on a faster squirrel pace just to get to the point
I'm mystified about why this is getting cult-y followings by people
I don't think it is the best choice for pragmatic people who might prefer an abridged version.
