Will Guidara was twenty-six when he took the helm of Eleven Madison Park, a struggling two-star brasserie that had never quite lived up to its majestic room. Eleven years later, EMP was named the best restaurant in the world. How did Guidara pull off this unprecedented transformation? vale and warmth
Revisado: 11-02-24
The value and warmth of this book can't be overstated. it's full of practical leadership and hospitality but ideas that are both practical and applicable in any realm.
It's something that you can apply in a restaurant comma and any business.Or even in your own personal life. in summary, give more than people expect or would even be reasonable.
The narration is also very well done. Full of warmth, emotion and feel sincere all the way through the book itself is an example of what it preaches. You shouldn't miss out.

Historia
The war raged across the galaxy. Billions had died, billions more were doomed. Moons, planets, the very stars themselves, faced destruction, cold-blooded, brutal, and worse, random. The Idirans fought for their Faith; the Culture for its moral right to exist. Principles were at stake. There could be no surrender. Within the cosmic conflict, an individual crusade. Deep within a fabled labyrinth on a barren world, a Planet of the Dead proscribed to mortals, lay a fugitive Mind. Both the Culture and the Idirans sought it....

Tragedy Porn
Revisado: 07-24-24
This book feels like an excuse for the author to show us how intelligent he feels he is peppered with unnecessary violence and horrible situations that serve no purpose. it seems To just want to cause shock.
To be fair the book does contain some very interesting ideas but the author is so flighty going from one to the other without ever really fully exploring any of them or getting to anything. The only parts he seems to dwell is the parts of the story that are tragic or grotesque.
i really couldn't finish it and the large Group of people in my book club that did Finish it agreed that i shouldn't bother, except one.

Historia
In what is considered one of Heinlein's most hair-raising, thought-provoking, and outrageous adventures, the master of modern science fiction tells the strange story of an even stranger world. It is 21st-century Luna, a harsh penal colony where a revolt is plotted between a bashful computer and a ragtag collection of maverick humans, a revolt that goes beautifully until the inevitable happens. But that's the problem with the inevitable: it always happens.

Great Characters
Revisado: 07-24-24
I Love the story and the characters were great. Really good scifi and concepts in my opinion. i felt characters were maybe a little too enlightened Considering their origin. It felt Lunies were all wonderful with few exceptions. It all served the story well and aside from a bit of a pacing hiccup at the beginning of book 2 it is well worth the listen.
Voice acting is great the accents are noticeable and easy to understand for the most part except maybe the french one. But the reading Style pacing and attention to detail the characters come through extremely well. I have to say i will look for other books By this Voice actor.

Fun and applicable. I'm captivated.
Revisado: 11-28-22
Too many books in this genre are full of cool stories goals and ideas but never make the connection between the what and the how. Not Vanesa.
you can hear in the book that she is walking the talk and she is you through great stories and tells you exactly how to achieve the results. Not only that, but she gives you tons of tools, encouragement and guidance.
The fact that I am captivated is proof enough for me that this book is not only worth it, but it's undervalued.

I really like reading something so different than what I'm used to from Brandon Sanderson and still enjoy it thoroughly. does this book is great for everyone it's awesome for kids and teens. I chuckled heartily on many occasions and can't wait to read more from this series. I'm usually pretty good at guessing the deeper issues of the story, however Brandon managed to surprise me consistently all the way up to the end.
yes like any story it has the usual expected structure but the explanations behind it are great.
narrator was pretty good for the book. still struggled sometimes distinguishing One voice from another. but still quite a good representation.

it delivers but I won't keep reading
Revisado: 07-28-22
Another interesting read that is hard to follow for most of the story due to the perspective,of the journal style storytelling of an army medic not fully clued in. The very ending finally brings things together well though it feels completely designed to get you to read the series be being a good story. It does deliver on is promises. So not dissatisfied.
I know every writer wants you to read the next book. But it should be because of how riveting the first one was. Not because it was designed to string you along.
I won't be reading the rest. Stone really good elements such as naming convention, the scope of the story and long timeline.

Kell is one of the last Travelers - magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel universes. As such, he can choose where he lands. There's Grey London, dirty and boring, without any magic, ruled by a mad King George. Then there's Red London, where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. There's White London, ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne. And once upon a time, there was Black London...but no one speaks of that now.

Entertaining but lacked substance
Revisado: 07-28-22
I can't say I didn't like it. But it felt like if i looked at it at an angle i would see the paper cut outs. Interesting elements, a premise with potential and not terrible characters.
I won't continue the series but it didn't feel like a waste of time. I really can't pinpoint what is lacking, I just kept reading for the book club.

Imagine a 1980s world of sumptuous hotel rooms, restaurants, New York City penthouses, and the powerful men who move easily between these pinnacles of luxury. They are music producers, rock stars, writers, and restaurateurs. They are household names like Billy Joel, Art Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, and Sting. And yet, each man has an entire aspect to his life that he doesn’t talk about publicly—his depression, his rocky marriage, his feelings of shame and failure, his private loss of faith. And now: The phone rings. Imagine the woman who has each of these men at her beck and call.

good concept
Revisado: 01-17-22
I really liked the ideas in the book and the execution of the thought experiment is quite solid. maybe it's just that I'm not a fan of Terry pratchett's style, but I always find it hard to keep coming back to read despite the interesting elements and ideas in the book.
a lot of it probably has to do with the characters that for whatever reason don't connect with me. they seem solid and real just not people I really want to read about.
even though the concepts are interesting and I would really like to know how they develop in other books from the series I'm probably not going to continue. there are just too many books that are more appealing.
