Just silly
Revisado: 01-23-24
Juvenile reading. The story is contrived and silly. Character are completely unbelievable. The female narrator has a
cringing voice and I am most grateful that I won’t have to hear her mispronounce “villa”again. Lot’s of filler language that most simply put is annoying. Don’t waste your time on credit unless you are 13 or younger and even then this story is so bad.

Revisado: 06-27-23
Usually like Ruth Ware novels but this is so disappointing. The premise is fine but the writing is pretty one note. I don't know how many times an author can write the same thing over and over again but.... well..."so tired, weak legs, bloody dressing? Enough!!!!

Revisado: 09-21-21
I didn’t like Amelia. She is very “glass half full! Adam not much more interesting or likeable. The story is a little ridiculous and too much . Unbelievable circumstances and plot twists. Who cares about these people? I’m sure Alice Feeney is a capable author but she missed with this one.

Revisado: 07-23-21
This audio book is not very good. I couldn't finish it! The narrator is quite bad. The story is unbelievable (in a bad way) . I actually wanted to return it but wasn't able to. What a waste of a credit. I have listened to Robotham books before and liked them but this is just too hard to hear.

Revisado: 03-24-19
I really enjoyed Harlen Coben's earlier stories but the last few were "meh". I thought I would try once more but wish I hadn't. Didn't really buy any of the characters but Simon Green? Ah well, I like Steven Weber.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Stretches believability
Revisado: 10-22-18
I don't know what all the 5 star reviews are about! I listened to this book twice just to be sure I wasn't missing anything. I agree with other reviewers that the narration was not good, although I usually like Cassandra Campbell as a narrator. Kya's voice was, to say the least, irritating over time. I bought this book because of all the great reviews but it, to me, was just unbelievable. The story of poor Kya felt lacking and the "little girl" voice did not match the character. The entire murder? story line was ridiculous and to me I don't think the proper depth of the relationship between Chance and Kya was adequately defined. Not to mention the Tate character. On the plus side I did like the description of the location which brought vivid images to mind. This may be a book that should be read.

Revisado: 09-14-17
I have read all the Louise Penny, Inspector Gamache books. I am liking the new narrator Bathurst more and more. This book does go back and forth in time but that only improved the story. I do think Inspector Gamache could be a little less "perfect".
