Insta-lust.

I’m a big fan of MM fantasy, but this series just isn’t my thing. The characters are artificial and the plots seem written specifically as a framework for soft-core porn.
I agree, though, that the narrator is terrific.

Historia
In the poverty-stricken neighborhoods of the Street, ordinary citizens are turning up dead, their bodies drained of blood. What seems at first like a string of vampire attacks is soon revealed to be something even more frightening. But in the dayside world of the city's upper levels, no one notices what happens to a few dead street rats. Kathryn Kitaen, a magic affairs detective for the Metamor City Police Department, isn't supposed to be on this case or any other. Judged unfit for duty after a recent shooting, Kate is on indefinite leave.

Poor quality

Writing was flat and boring. Narration just plain bad. Tried twice to listen, but couldn’t make it past the first third of the first book. Waste of a credit

Good story, flat narration
Revisado: 01-15-23
I thoroughly enjoy this author’s work. However, after making it thru the first and partway thru the second books in the series, I had to stop. The narration is so flat I keep losing the story because my mind wanders too much.

Historia
Once, it was said, Wensha had been a city of witches, summoning and controlling demons for their evil magic. But in nearby Tandieras, Kaltha claimed to have found their lost book of spells to perform only white magic. When Sun Wolf arrived, he discovered increasing signs of evil magic and demon-controlling spells. And he realized, too late, that a new swarm of demons was trying to lure him to his death....

Poor narration

Narration was mechanical and unnatural, with odd phrasing and many mispronunciations. Very unfair to such an excellent writer.

Interminal battles
Revisado: 10-05-20
Have made it through the first two books of this series and have to say that, for military buffs, this series must be great. However, I am not a military buff and found the excruciating detail of the non-stop battles to be so much filler. Since well over half of both books consists of such filler, I’ll have to pass on any forthcoming volumes.
