Naomi Novik knows how to spin a magical story. I loved Uprooted, so when I saw this story I purchased it. I loved this one too. The only thing that could have made it better was announcing who was telling their portion of the story, or using a small musical note to differentiate when a different character was telling their tale. I think the narrator was awesome and she did attempt to make each character sound a little different, but I had some difficulty determining when the character had changed. Overall, an awesome spin to a fairy tale! A very satisfying ending to a great book.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I did enjoy this book. When it ended I realized that I was hooked and wanted to hear the rest. I'll look forward to purchasing the remainder of the audible series when it becomes available.

What other book might you compare Vivatera to and why?
It's a fantasy set in an earlier time. I could compare it to other magical novels in some respects. Even though it had some familiar elements, it was fresh and had plenty of original ideas.

Have you listened to any of Alyson Grauer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not heard of her, or listened to Alyson narrate a story before. I liked her voice and I thought she did a very good job with all the characters, making each one sound different. I really liked the way Alyson read the book. She did an awesome job! I look forward to hearing her finish the series. I might see what else she's done. I think she is a great choice for the tone of this novel.

Any additional comments?
I did enjoy listening to this book. Some of the wording wasn't ideal, I would have chosen some different phrasing here and there. I could see where some of her ideas were progressing to, but there were some surprises. I think it was well done. Maybe could use a little more polish, but over all I thought it was very good.

One of my favorite books!

What did you love best about Uprooted?

Everything! It was really well written and I thought the story was amazing. It was a different kind of fairy tale. A very fresh telling of a mystical world.

What did you like best about this story?

I didn't know what to expect and couldn't stop listening. I liked the main character, she seemed real and down to earth.

What does Julia Emelin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I enjoyed her accent, though there were a few words that she pronounced differently. Her voice was good and felt right for this story.

I was so blown away by how enjoyable this book is. It's now one of my favorite stories.

Realistic take on being a Vampire

What does Ryan Jeanmaire bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I felt like I was listening to a real person talk about his life's challenges.

Any additional comments?

I liked this book, it kept my interest. I wanted to know what happened to this character. I would have liked other descriptions for "replied". Overall a very good listen!
