Somehow even better than the first

The first book is necessary before this one, but I promise it's worth it. Uplifting (lol because dragons), powerful, and lovely, I'll come back to this series again and again.

I've been waiting for Kentigern's story, and it did not disappoint (the grump and sunshine trope gives me life). Audiobooks are my primary means of reading books, so I was thrilled when this and the most recent Prizefighter book dropped.

My favorite of the series so far

I love this series so much - every book gets better, and the first book was already excellent. Gretchen and Colton make a fantastic couple, and the amount of heart they both have as characters was especially fitting to a holiday romance. They were strong side characters in previous books, and they shone brightly in their own story. This will be an annual listen, for sure!

This book is fire in more ways than one. It's wicked steamy, so definitely not safe for work or your parent's house. It's a quick, fun read that I was sad to have end so quickly, but I'll definitely listen again. I'd love for this to turn into a series! There's a lot of the world left to see and characters to revisit, so I hope to have the opportunity to read more.

Romance, mystery, and brilliant women

I am prefacing this by saying that I do not give five star ratings often or lightly. A good book earns four stars with me, so to earn five certainly makes this a cut above.
This book is a delightful regency with a dash of mystery, twist of action, and a whole lot of inspiring (and endearingly eccentric) women of science. The writing is incredibly self-aware, and the characters dynamic. Violet is an engaging heroine, and Everett balances her empathy with her drive and Violet's development is tangible and real. Her character's lessons resonated with me, and I actively cheered for her through the story. I even fell in love with many side characters, and would love to read more about them in Athena's Retreat and beyond.
(Also, Elizabeth Jasicki is a fabulous narrator and you can't go wrong listening to other stories she has read)
