Historia
Imagine yourself in Cape Cod in early fall with the steady swells of the waves falling against the sand and the gentle rhythmic chirp of crickets in the dunes. Unlike canned nature sounds created in a studio, renowned acoustic ecologist Gordon Hempton gives you the real deal. He travels the world recording remarkable locations that capture the essence of the place itself.

who mixes these?
Revisado: 07-01-20
How do you make such a soothing sound (the ocean) into something that makes you want to tear your ears off? Add a highly over mixed sound from a cricket so it sounds like it is right beside you. With a bullhorn. The loudness of the cricket chirping absolutely ruined this soundscape, plus it sounded like it was added in, which makes it even more ridiculous! Don't waste your time and certainly not your money. This will keep you up all night!

Great futuristic story
Revisado: 01-11-20
Faith Hunter always write tough, but likable, heroines. This one is no exception. I loved Shining and her story. Many interesting and diverse characters to learn about in this and I will be interested to see if more stories come from this worldbuilding. I would definitely read them if there are!

But upon arriving, it becomes clear that the party is not as innocent as it had seemed. Every invited guest has a connection to Romilly's wife, Rosamund, who disappeared on her wedding day three years ago, and a dramatic dinner proves she is very much on her husband's mind.

A love/hate review
Revisado: 07-04-18
I really enjoyed several elements about this book. The friendships were well done, the sexy times were hot, and the locales were very interesting. I really hate a hero that is tstl, though. There is much about him that had me almost NF this audiobook. I mean, his hesitancy to be with his wife was thoroughly explained, but I just had a hard time with the way he acted for the 8 years he left her on her own. He acted completely single and had not one single thought for the fact that he was married. I was just dumbfounded by how often both main characters let the other slip through their fingers. So frustrating! The narrator was good. I thought she did a fine job. B-

High adventure and dark mystery combine in a sparkling historical romance, by Jodi Taylor writing as Isabella Barclay from The Chronicles of St. Mary's. Bascombe, widowed and tied to an impoverished estate, has learned to ask little of life. With no hope of leaving, the years have passed her by. Lord Ryde, exiled abroad after a scandal, has returned to strip his estate and make a new start in America.

A surprisingly good listen
Revisado: 05-14-18
I had never heard of the author or her nom de plume, so had little e,expectation for the book. I was very happy to find myself swept away in this later in life romance/mystery.
The romance is well done and the characters are very good together. I love a couple with witty banter very much. The setting is wonderful and I found myself smiling while listening to the idilic bachelor establishment fill up with strong women. The story was both funny and thoughtful; I enjoyed the balance of emotions and how two grown, experienced people navigated their pasts to find happiness.
The narrator was excellent and had a wonderful array of voices made it easy to discern one character from another. Sadly, I do not see any other books that are similar to this one by either author name in Audible. I give this a B +.

Not my cuppa
Revisado: 01-22-18
This is the second book in a series, but it was not the fact that I had not read the first one that made this audio book difficult to finish. I felt that the plot dragged on and on. I love a good mystery, but this was not it for me. About 3/4 of the way in I almost abandoned ship, but I was marginally interested in the hero of the story so I stuck it out. I enjoyed the ending, but it took forever to get there! And I prefer my romance to not be G-rated, so a tad disappointed about that. I am not a fan of the third wheel trop, so that was a huge negative for me (this was a carry over romance from book 1). It was not the worst book I have ever read, nor the worst I have listened to. I did manage to finish in about 3 weeks when I can usually finish an audio recording in two days.
That being said, I enjoyed the narrator quite a lot.

Fabulous Historical Mystery
Revisado: 02-23-17
This new to me author and narrator hit this one out of the park!
I loved everything about this audio book. The main characters were fascinating and the chemistry was wonderful. I found myself laughing aloud at their barbed insults and snide comments. The sexual tension is delicious. My only hope is that it doesn't go on forever and they actually become a couple, and soon. Please don't make the relationship go on forever as it is, Ms. Raybourn. I promise to still read this series if they are an actual couple!
The writing is positively riveting, the narrator is brilliant, and I highly recommend this book to folks that like Amanda Quick. I might even like this one better! A

Historia
Sherlock Holmes is an unparalleled genius who uses the gift of deduction and reason to solve the most vexing of crimes. Warlock Holmes, however, is an idiot. A good man, perhaps; a font of arcane power, certainly. But he’s brilliantly dim. Frankly, he couldn’t deduce his way out of a paper bag. The only things he has really got going for him are the might of a thousand demons and his stalwart flatmate. Thankfully, Dr. Watson is always there to aid him through the treacherous shoals of Victorian propriety...

Hard to characterize, but fun
Revisado: 01-22-17
I picked this up because season 4 of Sherlock ended and I was in the mood for more of one of my favorite detection teams. I thought this sounded interesting, and boy, was I right!
I enjoy a good paranormal book occasionally and I was pleasantly surprised to find that is a prevalent element to this book. If you're a fan of more than just the series and have read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's books, you will recognize many familiar stories with an odd slant and a paranormal twist. I really enjoyed when I remembered details of the original and then a fanciful twist was written.
I will confess that I was on the fence about this book for about an hour. As a fan of "normal Sherlock" it was great hard to grapple with this clueless Warlock. I tried to not hold my love for Sherlock against Warlock and I am glad I did. This is an entertainin, for me anyway, take on one of my favorite classics.
The narrator was new to me, but did he an excellent job. Great voices for different characters and wondered pacing. B.

Good Solid Book for the Series
Revisado: 01-08-17
I enjoyed this installment in Lyndsay Sands' Immortals series. I thought there was humor and the story moved along nicely. As always, there are a couple of cringe worthy spots, but I don't mind with this author. I enjoy the escape and don't sweat the small stuff.
The narrator is new to me, but I likes her very much. She did a great job of differentiating each character and I also enjoyed her tone, inflection, and pacing. B.
