Too much Kris Longknife
Revisado: 04-01-19
Again we have a story where Kris Longknife's name gets dropped a hundred times. At some point the characters have to be able to do things without something Kris Longknife has done before?

Historia
Sandy Santiago has problems coming out her ears. Granny Rita is out of control. The workers are out on strike. Worse, the murderous alien raiders are testing Alwa's defense perimeter. Once she has her house in order, Sandy is strongly thinking of getting her own good look at what appears to be the alien home world. Last time Kris Longknife visited the place, she threw some serious shade on the aliens. Dare Sandy return? Might the aliens be waiting for her? What could a serious, organized scientific look at this world tell Sandy?

Kris Longknife this Kris Longknife that.... blehh.
Revisado: 11-15-17
Same problem as the last book. They spent so much time name dropping Kris Longknife that she should have been the main character for the book. It seems like the we can't get to know Admiral Santigo cause everyone spends so much time talking about Kris. I thought these books would be something refreshingly different but its just more worshiping at the alter of Kris Longknife. The author needs to move to something different. He is ruining his past work with this garbage.

This series is dying a slow death
Revisado: 07-19-17
I think its getting time for this series to end. The author has made Kris into such a Mary Sue that the twists he has to come up with to make anything seem like a challenge for the main character is ridiculous. For example the computer garbage he comes up with to escape/scar away an enemy fleet is ridiculous. How could their supposed allies trust an intelligent computer they don't control to "forget" the tech they are to had over when they are done? Get real. Also the "entourage" she is carrying around with her is ridiculous. Its like the excuses they come up with for worf to zhow up in a star trek movie but for like 4 or 5 characters. Put a fork in it Mike if you want to keep something going in this universe start with a new character and not admiral Santiago. That book mentioned or talked about Kris more than Santigo and Kris was barely in the bloody book.

You know what Kris Longknife did?
Revisado: 07-14-17
This book was ok but can you really call it an admiral Santigo book when they keep saying "Kris Longknife did this" or "Kris Longknife did that" every 5 minutes?!? He replaced Longkife, kept most of the other characters who only seemed to badgered her constantly about what Kris would have done, what did Kris due in the past or how she should change to be like Kris. If you are going to try something different with a new main character don't try to turn her into Kris Longknife! The author would have been better served to retcon Kris's pregnancy and kept her in the book at this rate. Instead he made me realise what a MarrySue he has turned Kris into.

Bob Johansson didn't believe in an afterlife, so waking up after being killed in a car accident was a shock. To add to the surprise, he is now a sentient computer and the controlling intelligence for a Von Neumann probe. Bob and his copies have been spreading out from Earth for 40 years now, looking for habitable planets. But that's the only part of the plan that's still in one piece.

Great book
Revisado: 06-30-17
My only issue with this book is that it is not long enough. At 8 hours plus i could have listen for another 8 and still be captivated. This is my favorite scifi series since the expanse.

Historia
Sometimes things don't work out exactly as planned. The Mesan Alignment has a plan - one it's been working on for centuries. A plan to remake the galaxy and genetically improve the human race - its way. Until recently things have gone pretty much as scheduled, but then the Alignment hit a minor bump in the road called the Star Empire of Manticore. So the Alignment engineered a war between the Solarian League, the biggest and most formidable interstellar power in human history.

Worst honerverse book ever sad to say
Revisado: 01-08-17
Performance: Accents were annoying and distracting.
Story: you can skip 3/4 of the book because it is covering events that happened in other books just from another piont of view. This book just adds more bloat to an already extraordinarily large lore and introduces even more characters or reintroduces old characters just for sake of showing what they had been up to since the events of the last couple of main books. If this is supposed to be fan service it is poorly done.
One questions why this book even exists as it does nothing to move the narrative forward. Also one wonders if the author only wrote the book as it was time for another honerverse book and the tank was running on empty. Very disappointed. David Weber is one of my favourite authors and I know he can do better.
If the author wants to write about other characters in his universe other than Honor that's fine. But it needs to focus on that group of characters / part of the universe rather than this confusing jumble.
