Historia
An award-winning journalist obsessed with obsession, Bianca Bosker’s existence was upended when she wandered into the art world—and couldn’t look away. Intrigued by artists who hyperventilate around their favorite colors and art fiends who max out credit cards to show hunks of metal they think can change the world, Bosker grew fixated on understanding why art matters and how she—or any of us—could engage with it more deeply.

Historia
Our lives are saturated by color. We live in a world of colors, and color marks our psychological and social existence. But for all color's ubiquity, we don't know much about it. Authors David Scott Kastan and Stephen Farthing offer a fresh and imaginative exploration of one of the most intriguing and least-understood aspects of everyday experience.

Observations on color through historical and multicultural resources. We’ll documented and expertly read … scholarly but not dry. Mentions of art, literature, & linguistics are complemented by cultural norms, race & symbolism.
Highly recommended.

Historia
In this 1962 novel, Kerouac's alter ego, Jack Duluoz, overwhelmed by success and excess, gravitates back and forth between wild binges in San Francisco and an isolated cabin on the California coast where he attempts to renew his spirit and clear his head of madness and alcohol. Only nature seems to restore him to a sense of balance. In the words of Allen Ginsberg, Big Sur "reveals consciousness in all its syntactic elaboration, detailing the luminous emptiness of his own paranoiac confusion".

Historia
After getting a master’s degree in clinical psychology, Dasha Kiper became the live-in caregiver for a Holocaust survivor with Alzheimer’s disease. For a year, she endured the emotional strain of looking after a person whose condition disrupts the rules of time, order, and continuity. Inspired by her own experience and her work counseling caregivers in the subsequent decade, Kiper offers an entirely new way to understand the symbiotic relationship between patients and those tending to them.

Instant Classic
Revisado: 06-05-23
Specifically for family caregivers, this book shows how Alzheimer's affects the person and the caregiver. With stories and scientific studies, we understand why a person with Alzheimer's acts as they do and why we as caregivers have trouble reconciling their behavior. Encouraged with infinite forgiveness, we are supported in our journey to recognize that the person is still who they are ... however diminished.

Historia
Does nature really make us feel better? The 3-Day Effect takes a look at the science behind why being in the wild can make us happier, healthier, and more creative. Whether it’s rafting down Utah’s Green River, hiking in Utah’s wilderness, or walking through Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, scientists are finding that the more exposure humans have to nature, the more we can benefit from reduced anxiety, enhanced creativity, and overall well-being.

Chatty Podcast
Revisado: 05-20-19
This is not a book, it's a podcast. It is not written, it is extemporaneous interviews and rambling conversations with suggestions that research is going to be revealed. With all the teasers without information, i wasn't able to suffer through more than an hour... There is probably good information in here, but like diamonds in a matrix you have to sift through a lot.
If you like podcasts, maybe you will like this...it is cheery with background noises of nature...

Historia
Ulysses is regarded by many as the single most important novel of the 20th century. It tells the story of one day in Dublin, June 16th 1904, largely through the eyes of Stephen Dedalus (Joyce's alter ego from Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man) and Leopold Bloom, an advertising salesman. Both begin a normal day, and both set off on a journey around the streets of Dublin, which eventually brings them into contact with one another.

Classic Meandering Inside Joke
Revisado: 07-11-18
This performance made Ulysses bearable. The book needs a HARD edit...rambling on like Joyce is paid by the word... There are some brilliant moments that are drown in a mire of lists and tangents - Wikipedia chapter summaries helped a lot. There were a few poetic glimmers that kept me going, but this “classic” is an inside joke for insomniacs and philologists. Take my advice and FF to chapters 13 & 25 for the randy bits, and use the hardcover for a doorstop.

Historia
When Pico Iyer decided to go to Kyoto and live in a monastery, he did so to learn about Zen Buddhism from the inside, to get to know Kyoto, one of the loveliest old cities in the world, and to find out something about Japanese culture today—not the world of businessmen and production lines, but the traditional world of changing seasons and the silence of temples, of the images woven through literature, of the lunar Japan that still lives on behind the rising sun of geopolitical power.
