Wonderful book recording!

I loved all the book. It's special because 1) It's as if he's telling the story to the listeners, not just reading; 2) He talks about having a different brain and what a struggle it is, and the childhood wounding that can happen as a consequence; 3) his wife reads her own sections! The ending is excellent.

Excellent and much- needed recounting of the Trans journey

His absolute frank willingness to share the painful emotional journey our culture imposes on someone with gender dysphoria is remarkable. The book is consistently engaging - an easy listen, although about a tough topic. His clear verbal recognition of his personal privilege while dealing with the tremendous stresses and societal blocks is well-placed to help the reader continue to reflect long after reading the book. I recommend it!

Beautiful descriptions

Interesting people. lovely accents. good character development and descriptions. I loved the detail of the glass art process, and the energy and creative process of the artist herself. The descriptions of the art openings were just enough for one to evision them. The emotions and personal changes were maybe a bit quick, but the overall effect was within the scale of the story.

Great sequel in the Bess Crawford series

Excellent mystery and complicated characters and plot as usual. I love that it is done by the same narrator, who is quite good. It is interesting that there are some of the same characters as in the Ian Rutledge series, so we glimpse them as distant friends. I am looking forward to reading the next one!

The characters and circumstances are so real, the way they are in Ms. Winspear's Masie Dobbs books. I recommend this one if you are interested in the 1930s and 40s in England.

Will eventually be read in churches all over!

This is a detailed and clear call for basic, structural change towards creating the true Beloved Community within our churches and all of our institutions. I will be re-reading this and sharing its importance with anyone and everyone who is willing to listen. The author points to the core reasons that racism continues now, and she challenges us to do the work she outlines to erase this evil from our country.

imaginative and enjoyable

I have been thoroughly enjoying Becky Chambers' writing. Her alien races and environments have been creative and interesting without the descriptions being too complex or weighed-down with detail that might inspire criticism. Her perspective and reflections on human culture-centeredness are interesting and on point. I enjoy Her characters very much.

This book will appeal to those who are of a philosophical frame of mind. Lots to reflect on. I expect that I will want to return to it often, and will recommend it often. The performance helps it stay life-filled and engaging also.
