Historia
Is a witch throwing curses your way? Something scary scratching at your window in the night? Then, I've got just the charm for you. Mostly, though, I find things. Lost treasures, missing loved ones...if you need something found, I'm your guy. So, when a grieving father hired me to track down a family heirloom stolen by a sticky-fingered hobgoblin, I was happy to help.

Lots of potential
Revisado: 05-08-22
I’ll be reading the next in the series but I hope he improves some things. Don’t make eye contact? With a blind creature without eyes? Ok maybe nitpicking but some storyline mistakes and other flow issues and mid story predictability. On the plus side has some very interesting characters (eg The Dealer). The story has excellent potential just hope it is realized in the next installment. The narrator is fair at best, not much range.

Very good follow up to an excellent book 1
Revisado: 03-22-22
Not as good as book 1 but I still think it was very good. The magic system is original and well thought out. Character development and plot are very well done. Natasha Soudek is the best female narrator in the business. If you like book 1 you'll really enjoy the Iron Codex.

Original story line but a shame it’s the last
Revisado: 05-30-21
The writing, the plot, the magic system and the character development were all excellent. It’s very disappointing that this was the last book so much story still to be told I hope the author and the publisher reconsider and continue the series.

Historia
Something weird is happening to the Los Angeles freeways - phantom cars, lanes from nowhere, and sometimes unmarked off-ramps that give glimpses of a desolate desert highway - and Sebastian Vickery, disgraced ex-Secret Service agent, is a driver for a covert supernatural-evasion car service. But another government agency is using and perhaps causing the freeway anomalies, and their chief is determined to have Vickery killed because of something he learned years ago at a halted Presidential motorcade. Reluctantly aided by Ingrid Castine, a member of that agency, and a homeless Mexican boy....

Malignant dystopia, the authors words not mine.
Revisado: 12-30-20
Lets start positive. Bronson Pinchot is awesome as always. He breathes life in to poorly written and uninteresting characters. In another review I said Bronson could read an Ikea furniture manual and make it interesting...I might have to retract that. He is really really good...but not even his talent could make this book interesting.
It starts slow and then wanders off to into the aimless land of boredom. The characters are two dimensional at their peak and spend most of the time whining and rambling. I get that is part of where they are at in the story but MY GOD it got old fast and seemed endless.
I have read and listened to some of Tim Powers other books and was quite pleased with all the others. This is my first negative review of a book in a long time but I was compelled to write a review of this book.
Make sure you listen to it right away so can decide to return it or not. Yeah its that bad. I rarely return books but I had to. I literally felt cheated out of 11hr and 9 minutes of my life.

Historia
A cursed druid, blackmailed by a faery queen to find a missing magic rock. Let's just hope they don't hack the druid off...for everyone's sake. Name's Colin McCool. Folks call me the Junkyard Druid. I hate that name. Despite my last name, I'm not "cool" like the other hunters in town. I don't run an occult bookstore, I've never owned a Harley, and I didn't inherit a family fortune passed down through generations of hunters before me. And I kind of have this curse on me that's messed up my life.

Highly disappointed
Revisado: 06-09-18
I had hoped for something like Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid or Jim Butcher's Dresden Files, not even close. The main character "McCool" should be renamed "McHorny" or "McTeenager". Every female character is described to as if a 13 yr old boy was assessing her hotness. The rest of the story was flat, boring and poorly laid out. Steven Barnett did an ok job but he didn't have much to work with. Books like this need actual research into mythologies which are the background, it pretty clear this wasn't done here. I rarely leave bad reviews but I really had to step up this time. To all the positive reviews, I can't believe they purchased the same book as I did. This is basically a YA novel with cursing that was written in a hurry.

Revisado: 05-04-17
Fresh and interesting take on the vampire/urban fantasy genre. Well developed characters and plot. Creative delivery of the story at times.
My favorite part is Bronson Pinchot's performance! He is simply the best in the audiobook world. He breaths life into each character.
Highly recommend this audiobook!

Nobody knows the seedy underbelly of Las Vegas like Daniel Faust, a sorcerer for hire and ex-gangster who uses black magic and bullets to solve his clients' problems. When an old man comes seeking vengeance for his murdered granddaughter, what looks like a simple job quickly spirals out of control. Soon Daniel stands in the crossfire between a murderous porn director; a corrupt cop with a quick trigger finger; and his own former employer, a racket boss who isn't entirely human.

Good story with on flaw
Revisado: 03-11-17
pro: nice flow, fairly good plot with promise for the future
cons: narrator was kinda flat, not bad but not great. The relationship storyline with Kaitlyn seems juvenile and not believable.
I still recommend it but this isn't Dresden, Iron Druid or Nightwise....by any stretch.
