Historia
You fell in love with him. But over time you've come to realize he's in love with himself - and you feel trapped. His needs, his problems, and his plans always seem to take precedence over yours. Dr. David Hawkins, director of the Marriage Recovery Center, offers a guide to help you identify signs of narcissism, understand how your loved one's issues are affecting you, and prepare a biblical game plan for freeing yourself to live courageously in light of God's love.

Life-changing
Revisado: 07-15-23
This book was hard and tearful and sometimes scary to read at first, but it has started us on a journey where we are now making real changes, finding real help, and have hope for our marriage again. So thankful. If you are in a marriage with someone who has narcissistic tendencies, this is a must read. I am starting to read some books on Co-dependency next with the help of a counselor and my husband is openely learning about his unhealthy habits and coping for the first time. Truly thankful for Mr. Hawkins insight and experience and heart to help folks with these tendencies rather than villainizing them.

The Code of the Extraordinary Mind

Historia
The Code of the Extraordinary Mind is a blueprint of laws to break us free from the shackles of ordinary life. It makes a case that everything we know about the world is mostly decided not by rational choice but instead by conditioning and habit. And thus most people live their lives based on limiting rules and outdated beliefs about pretty much everything - love, work, money, parenting, sex, health, and more - that they inherit and pass on from generation to generation.

He likes to hear himself talk but I tired of it
Revisado: 03-24-23
I was hoping to actually learn something about the brain from this book, but couldn't keep riding the waves of his sales pitch that droned on and on. Ultimately, to drink his kool-aid, I would have to completely change my entire worldview and chuck my narrow-minded religion in exchange for a non-religion, view his opinions as having ultimate superiority and listen them unquestioningly before I could be considered mature enough by his standards to understand and adopt the rest of what he had to say. He did not build up my confidence in himself nor his method nearly enough to get me to swallow a pill that big so I stopped listening. What a waste.

Historia
A coming-of-age tale for the young and naïve 17-year-old Catherine Morland, Northanger Abbey takes a decidedly comical look at themes of class, family, love and literature. Revelling in the sensationalist - and extremely popular - Gothic fiction of her day, the story follows Catherine out of Bath to the lofty manor of the Tilneys, where her overactive imagination gets to work constructing an absurd and melodramatic explanation for the death of Mrs Tilney, which threatens to jeopardise her newly forged friendships.

A well-done dramatization worthy of Miss Austen
Revisado: 03-24-23
I enjoyed listening to this dramatized version of Northanger Abbey. Emma Thompson is the natural choice as narrator for any of Miss Austen's works. The acting in this story is very well done and I think this version would be a great segwey into Austen's writings if you were not familiar with them.

Historia
No one would accuse 11-year-old Caddie Woodlawn of being dainty and ladylike. In spite of her mother’s best efforts, Caddie is as wild as the wind, playing freely and rambunctiously with her two brothers in the Wisconsin backwoods. There are rafts to build and trees to climb and pranks to play. Caddie especially likes to watch her friend Indian John build birchbark canoes at the river. Every day seems wide with possibility - as wide as the frontier. But living on the edge of civilization has its risks, too....

As lovely as the Little House books.

We listened to this as a family and enjoyed it very much. The story is full of adventure, wonderful character growth, family, hard work, and the writing and narrating transports you straight into the pioneer era. My older children, ages 8 and 10 enjoyed it most, but the 6 and 4yo would tune in at different times as well.

Great, engaging family story
Revisado: 01-25-21
We really enjoyed this book and my kids have been asking every day since we finished it when we can listen to the second one. The kids who enjoyed it most are 7 and 9. The 5yo listened at different times and enjoyed it when she did, but wasn't as enraptured as the older ones.
