Historia
As it absorbs data, gains agency, and intermediates between humans and reality, AI will help us to address enormous crises, from climate change to geopolitical conflicts to income inequality. It might well solve some of the greatest mysteries of our universe, revolutionize fields as diverse as medicine and architecture, and elevate the human spirit to unimaginable heights. But it will also pose challenges on a scale and of an intensity that we have never seen.

The book made such outrageous hypothetical claims, it’s hard to imagine it was grounded in reality.
Revisado: 01-29-25
I do not recommend this book. The authors are speculating on things that may never happen and make quite unrealistic predictions of possibilities.

very well researched book on longevity
Revisado: 02-01-24
There are many books on longevity but this one presents a lot more of the background research than other books. Interestingly, the author departs from some of the other longevity experts, particularly on the benefits of some supplements like NMN. His analysis of the drawback of animal foods is of interest, particularly his departure from some of the other experts that put red meat as less desirable than other animal products such as chicken, milk, or eggs. His analysis of amino acids contributions to longevity is also very interesting. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
When attorney Chris Hansen learned that the U.S. government was issuing patents for human genes to biotech companies, his first thought was, How can a corporation own what makes us who we are? Then he discovered that women were being charged exorbitant fees to test for hereditary breast and ovarian cancers, tests they desperately needed—all because Myriad Genetics had patented the famous BRCA genes. So he sued them.

Historia
You may be surprised to learn that microchips are the new oil—the scarce resource on which the modern world depends. Today, military, economic, and geopolitical power are built on a foundation of computer chips. Virtually everything—from missiles to microwaves—runs on chips, including cars, smartphones, the stock market, even the electric grid. Until recently, America designed and built the fastest chips and maintained its lead as the #1 superpower, but America’s edge is in danger of slipping, undermined by players in Taiwan, Korea, and Europe taking over manufacturing.

Historia
As AI and robotics eliminate jobs across the spectrum, governmental revenues will plummet while the debt increases dramatically. This crisis of limited resources on all levels - underfunded or nonexistent pensions, health problems, lack of savings, and job destruction without comparable job creation - will drive many into homelessness and produce a dramatic rise in violence as we fight over shrinking resources.

Very disappointing read
Revisado: 03-05-22
I was expecting when I purchased the book to learn about artificial intelligence. The first chapter contains an overview and the rest was a diatribe against artificial intelligence and its risks. The book makes a huge number of assumptions, predicting doom and gloom because of AI. I don’t believe there is sufficient evidence to predict that robots will take over the planet and dominate mankind. I felt like I was reading a leftist analysis of artificial intelligence. I don’t recommend this book.

Miss leading title
Revisado: 04-03-21
One would think when you read this book it was going to deal with why we get sick. Instead, it focussed almost exclusively on insulin sensitivity. The book was boring and even by skipping around I couldn’t find anything really interesting. Not recommended unless you’re a diabetic.

Revisado: 01-11-20
This book is scatterbrained and unorganized. The description complete oversells they content and its usefulness. Don’t waste your money on this book.
